BOBCAT NATION
Please understand the impact you have in your classroom. When you close that door at the beginning of each period...whatever magic happens or doesn't happen is because of you, the teacher. No one else. You're the adult, the professional, and the expert in your content. On that note, several basic practices should be happening in every classroom and they are as follows.
BASIC PRACTICES
The beginning of each class period.
- Greet students as they enter the classroom.
- As students walk in, there should be a bell ringer.
- Teacher should have objective posted.
The middle part.
- This is where there should be some direct instruction.
- There should be some guided practice along with some independent practice.
The end of each class period.
- Before students leave, the teacher should check for understanding.
- Students should complete an Exit Ticket.
MORE BASICS
- All students should be reading and writing in every classroom.
- Teachers should be actively monitoring and checking for understanding.
- Learning should be from bell to bell.
- Teachers should have classroom procedures in place.
- Students should not be left unsupervised.
- Teachers should work on building rapport with students.
- Teachers should know their students.
- Teachers should be communicating with parents.
