Middle School and High School Report Card Update
Report cards for the first quarter were sent home via mail last week for Middle School and High School. However, we have identified some calculation errors in reports, as noted below. We are currently working on rectifying the errors. Once all the corrections have been made and verified, we will upload a PDF of your student’s new report card on ParentVUE and StudentVUE, and send an email notification.
Here are the errors identified in the quarter one report cards:
Middle School:
The quarterly average was calculated incorrectly.
Some early dismissals and late arrivals were incorrectly marked as daily absences.
High School:
Averages / Cumulative GPA were calculated incorrectly.
Although course grades do not show the additional points for Honors, AP, or Dual Enrollment courses, these points were, however, correctly calculated into marking period averages, GPA, and class rank.
The class "Tardy" calculation was not enabled in our software for this quarter. Report cards may show the total number of days a student was enrolled in the class as a default number of tardies.
Some early dismissals and late arrivals were incorrectly marked as daily absences.
Please look for the email notification once the report card corrections have been made. If you have further questions about your student’s report card after the corrected report has been sent, please contact your student’s guidance office.
Concert Season Crescendos In December
Emergency Closure Reminder
As winter weather approaches, we would like to remind families about the protocols that have been established for school closings, delays, and early dismissals, as well as the cancellation of extra-curricular activities.
In the event that weather impacts the school day, we use several information vehicles to communicate with parents and community members. All emergency closure information can be found on our website here.

Welcome New Board of Education Member
Please welcome our newest Board of Education member, Melanie Potter. Melanie is a Ravena resident and a 1998 RCS graduate. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Special Education from Marist College and a Master's degree in Special Education from the College of Saint Rose. Melanie and her husband Scott have three sons, Alex, who graduated from RCS, and Kaden and Jeiah, who are current students at RCS Middle and High School.
Melanie spends most of her free time with her family, church, and volunteering in the community. She has been an active member of Parent Teacher Organizations such as PBC PTO and RCS MS PTSO for over 13 years. She has also volunteered on District committees like the High School Building Leadership Team. Who To Contact and When Guide
The Who to Contact and When Guide was put together to connect the community with the most knowledgeable and direct person for concerns or questions. When looking for assistance, please start at level 1 and move up through the levels if that person is unable to provide you with the assistance you need. The Board of Education will become involved, if necessary, in the final stage of the process. Check out the guide here and on the second page of the 2023-24 RCS Printed Wall Calendar.
