Message From the Principal Message From the Principal

Families,

We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! It is hard to believe we are now at midterms for the first quarter and also past Labor Day. Midterms will be sent home on Wednesday. The school year is already moving quickly and it shows. Students are in full learning mode and have been showing tremendous growth.

We are excited to announce that we will be having SLAM Night again this year. SLAM Night is an evening of supports in literacy, other areas of assistance, and math. Flyers with more information and areas will be out shortly. It will take place on September 28th from 5-6:30pm at Lynwood.

Our next PTO meeting will take place tonight at 5pm in our library. We also have our picture day and immunization clinic upcoming. Have a great week!

With Lynwood Pride,

Jay Lovell

Principal

Culture Guide

The district has created a culture guide that highlights the key characteristics of an elite system. At our school, we have been teaching children the concept of E+R=O.

E= Events: We cannot control things that happen

R= Response: We can control our response to the event

O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.

This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.

Culture Guide

From the Board of Education:

It is the Board’s commitment to provide a safe, positive, productive and nurturing educational environment for all of its students. Any individual who believes a student has been or is the victim of discrimination, bullying, or harassment should report the situation to the building principal or designee or complete the School District’s Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying report form, which is available online at www.decaturproud.org.
