Suicide Prevention
988 IS THE NEW NUMBER TO CALL
In July 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline received a new 3-digit number: 988. Dialing or texting 988 will now take you directly to the Lifeline and connect you with a trained crisis counselor. For detailed information on this service, visit the SAMHSA 988 informational page.
Handle with Care Form
Simple way to inform the school or just myself if your child needs a little TLC. Please do not use this form in the case of an emergency or crisis!
Mental Health Care
Possible reasons for student referrals include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Low self esteem
- Self harm or suicidal ideation
- Decline in academic performance
- Multiple disciplinary referrals
- Truancy
- Recurrent non-compliance with school staff
- Frequent or intense mood changes
- Problems with attention
- Anger/Violence
- Eating Disturbance
- Trauma
- Bullying

Gifted and Talented Nominations Open in November
State Definition of Gifted and Talented
Gifted and Talented student means a child or youth who performs or shows the potential for performing at a remarkable high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
1) exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area:
2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
3) excels in a specific academic field. (TEC 29.121)ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Program admission is based on a minimum of three equally weighted criteria that represent both objective and subjective assessment. The criteria may include but not be limited to the following;
1. Intelligence tests
2. Parent behavioral checklist
3. Teacher behavioral checklist
4. SOI (Structure of Intellect)
5. Non-verbal mental abilities test
6. Creativity assessment
7. Teacher nomination based on classroom observations
