Hello, Gage families!
This week, the RPS School Board will be voting on whether to approve a proposal that could impact Gage, our Spanish Immersion program, and transportation. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
Gage Grown-Ups meets this week on Friday. This is a great spot to ask questions and give feedback about these proposed changes and other things impacting our school. All are welcome to join our open discussion!
CAPE (Caregiver and Parent Empowerment) started this past week with lively discussions. It's not too late to join! Come Wednesday at 5:00pm to learn more. You can read about this opportunity below.

This Tuesday, January 23, the RPS School Board will be voting on whether to approve the proposal to change attendance boundaries, district-wide transportation, and the location of the Spanish Immersion program.

CAPE - Caregiver and Parent Empowerment Program
Gage is proud to offer CAPE (Caregiver and Parent Empowerment) to our families starting in January. This series offers important information about supporting your student's social-emotional health, about opportunities offered in RPS, and about helping your child to plan for post-secondary life. Did you know that planning should start in elementary school?

Meet our speaker: Ashley Johnson
Ashley Johnson M.S. is an SLMH therapist, at Fernbrook Family Center. She received both her master's in counseling (2021) and B.S. in Psychology (2019) from Longwood University. Ashley has an interest in mental health and social justice advocacy. During her time at Longwood Ashley completed 3 research projects on mental health stigma and homophobia as well as started a community mental health stigma education campaign which won her awards in research and citizen leadership. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ashley worked for the Virginia Department of Health as a care navigator and community health strategist. In these roles, Ashley advocated for underserved members of her community and furthered the work of building a healthier community. In 2022 Ashley moved to Rochester Minnesota and brought her knowledge and experiences to Fernbrook where she uses the skills, she has learned to build connections with her clients and the community. In her free time Ashley enjoys spending time reading with her cat, baking, and hiking with her dog Biscuit.
PTO Updates
Save the date! Fill the raffle baskets!
The Gage PTO Carnival is coming! Mark your calendar for Friday, March 22.
The PTO is collecting items for carnival raffle baskets. Your child's classroom teacher will send a class theme for raffle basket donations. You can donate an item to your child's class raffle basket, or send other raffle basket items to the main office to be included in this carnival fundraiser.
You could win a raffle basket! You will be able to view other raffle items, purchase raffle tickets, and try to win during the March 22 carnival.
