Keeping Lombard families in the loop
Welcome to a New School Year!
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
I hope this back to school letter finds you all in good health and high spirits as we embark on another exciting academic year at Lombard Middle School. As we welcome both returning and new students, I am thrilled to share with you our school's theme for this year: "Growing Greatness."
At Lombard Middle School, we not only prepare our students for a bright future but also draw inspiration from the remarkable achievements of the past. Our theme, "Growing Greatness," was carefully chosen to honor the legacies of prominent citizens of Galesburg, like, Benjamin Lombard and Carl Sandburg. These visionary figures left an indelible mark on our community and beyond, exemplifying the qualities of passion, vision, perseverance, and hard work that we hope to instill in our students.
Just as greatness takes time to develop, so does the spirit of Lombard. We believe that it is not just about achieving academic success, but also about cultivating a well-rounded character that embraces empathy, resilience, and the willingness to contribute positively to society. As faculty members, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment that encourages every student to explore their passions, develop their talents, and excel in their pursuits.
Throughout this academic year, students will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, that will not only enrich their learning experience but also reinforce the Lombard Spirit. From challenging academic projects to creative arts and community service initiatives, we are dedicated to helping students discover their potential and build the skills that will serve them well in the years ahead.
Parents and guardians, your support and involvement in your child's education are paramount to their success. We encourage open communication between our school and families to create a collaborative partnership in guiding our students on their educational journey.
Let us embark on this new academic year with enthusiasm, determination, and a shared commitment to "Growing Greatness" together. As we embrace the lessons from the past and look forward to a brighter future, I am confident that with the dedication of our exceptional faculty, the support of our families, and the hard work of our students, Lombard Middle School will continue to thrive as a place where greatness flourishes.
It is time to GROW, Zephyrs!

5-12 Activity Pass Procedure
5-12th grade students will be required to show their student id to enter CUSD #205 activities and athletic events. Our students also use their ID's for hot lunch.
Hats and Hoods
In order to keep our school as safe as possible and to help staff identify individuals easily, students should not wear headwear with a hood, bill, brim or otherwise that would impede the ability to identify a student. No head coverings unless for religious reasons or for protective hair covering as approved by the Principal.
Drop off and Pick Up Locations
Please use Knox St. and its feeder streets (Lombard, Whitesboro, and Locust) to drop your child(ren) off (the areas highlighted green). Please encourage them to use the sidewalks when they approach the building. We encourage you to move from West to East so students can be dropped off/picked up on the school side and avoid having to cross traffic. If this is unavoidable, please help us by directing your child(ren) to the crosswalk located in front of the building. There will be staff member there to help them cross daily.
Please avoid staff parking lot to drop off and pick up your student.
The staff parking lot (highlighted red) to the east off of Locust St. is not open to pick-ups/drop offs in the morning/afternoon. Additionally, the bus lane off of Lombard street to the West should be avoided. If we all work together we can help keep our students safe and make our process efficient.
Thank you for your help and understanding.
