What We are Learning
Under Construction
Dear Families,
This week we are beginning a new them in our classroom, “On the Move”. Children will learn about ways they can move and maneuver their bodies. They will also explore transportation “toys,” such as roller skates, tricycles, and wagons. Children will become aware of their own personal space and how to be respectful of the personal space of others.
This week’s Family Connections activities can be found at:

This week’s storybook, “My Brother’s New Scooter” can be found at: https://portal2.frogstreet.com/ebook/?bookname=FS20111_My-Brothers-New-Scooter_eBook.
We’re so excited to continue learning with your little one!
Sincerely,
MREC PreK

Building Character for February - PERSEVERANCE
PurposeFull Pursuit:
Consistency is hard. Have each person in the family commit to 1 thing they will do each day this week. Maybe it is flossing, drinking a certain amount of water, getting to bed at a certain time, limiting screen time, or exercising. Create a place where each person can tally their progress and see who can keep their streak going the longest!
Conversation Starters:
- How does following directions help us to not make mistakes?
- Can you share a time when you needed to use Perseverance to help fix a mistake?
Did You Know...
February is Black History Month
What is Black History Month?
Every February, people in the United States and some other countries celebrate the contributions, achievements, and history of African Americans.
Lunar New Year is on Feb 10th.
What is Lunar New Year?
It is a holiday celebrated across many Asian countries, highlighting traditional values and aspirations for families, such as good fortune, health, and prosperity. It is an annual 15-day festival that begins with the new moon between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20 in Western calendars. The festival lasts until the following full moon. The Asian zodiac calendar is best described as a 12-year cycle represented by 12 different animals, in this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
🧧The Red envelope is called “Bao LiXi” in Vietnamese, the small red envelopes containing money are given to children, family members, friends, and employees as a symbol of good luck. In the Vietnamese (Asian) culture, red is associated with energy, happiness, and good luck.

If your child has already received immunizations at their 4 year well child visit, please provide documentation to the school. If your child has not yet received these immunizations, please make arrangements to have them completed as soon as possible.
