Message From The Principal
Hornet Families,
Thank you for a great start to the new school year! It is great to have our students back in the building as we are so excited about this school year! There will be no school tomorrow, Monday (Sept. 4th), as we observe Labor Day. Thank you for your patience as we work through our arrival and dismissal procedures. To ensure a safe arrival for all students, please make sure you drop your child off where a staff member is standing in the morning. In addition, if you plan for your student to eat breakfast, please arrive before 7:55 as breakfast ends at that time (unless students are on a late bus). During afternoon pick-up, please continue to display your student's car tag number. We are working to continue our efficient student pick-up process. We thank you for your patience as we continue to refine our logistical practices.
As we head into the 2nd week of school, please be sure to read through the important information listed below in the newsletter.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support,
Allen M. Wilson
Principal

🚌Bus Information from Mrs. Deans🚌
Attached you will find directions on how to get into the BUS Parent Portal. This portal will send you information about your child's bus. You will need to sign into this on Sunday night to check on any bus time or bus number changes. You will need to check this regularly for the first couple of weeks of school. You will also find directions on how to sign up for the CHIPMUNK app. This app will track your child's bus.
We will continue to send out text/email reminders about bus updates. Please continue to work with us these first few weeks of school while we get dismissal procedures worked out. It will take a little while to stabilize it all. Email me anytime you have any transportation concerns or questions at sgdeans@ncpschools.net.

Attendance Matters
Dear Bailey Elementary Families,
We are excited about the school year and want to start off strong by encouraging students to be at school and on-time every day for the entire 2023-2024 school year. Student attendance is an essential component to a student’s academic success.
With the hope of maintaining our new normal, the expectations at Bailey Elementary is for all students to be at school, unless the reason is considered an excused absence per board policy. For information regarding an excused absence please refer to the student handbook or the NCPS website.
The North Carolina Compulsory Attendance Law states that students should have no more than 10 unexcused days of school. Legal action can be taken against you, in accordance to the attendance law (G.S.115C-378).
Please help support your child, their teachers, and the school, by making attendance a priority and ensuring they are at school.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS. ALL DAY. EVERYDAY.
Sincerely,
Justin Sweet, Social Worker
Allen M. Wilson, Principal
