PES Notes
Week of August 8th
What a start!!
This has been a fabulous week. We started the week by meeting everyone Monday during our registration time and then our open house that evening. It was great seeing so many new faces and those that have been with us for a few years. Then on Wednesday, we welcomed students back full-time.
Also, on Wednesday, we began a new car rider dismissal that was a struggle on the first day. I saw the struggle on so many faces when they thought about the long line that sat before them. However, we went from finishing at 3:12 to finishing with car riders at 3:02 just two days later. We appreciate you for trusting and working with us on this transition.
I was asked the other day about our enrollment. We have 380 students enrolled at this time. That is up from 357 at this time last year. Last year, we added over thirty students over the year to push us above 380. If that happens again, we may find ourselves around 400.
In closing, I want to share about a new district website. The goal is for it to go live over the next few weeks. Administrators are learning its capabilities to share important information. One of my favorite things about it is the Decatur County Schools App. It is now available for Apple and will soon be for Google Play. It will take the place of our PES website.
I hope you guys have a great week! As always, please email us at pes@decaturschools.org or call the school if you have any questions.

Parent Teacher Organization
Our PTO will meet August 15th at 6:00. We need each of you involved and would love for you to come join us. Our leadership team has put together some projects for the first semester and want you to be a part. Meetings are in the PES Cafeteria.
Read 20
Research has shown that reading 20 minutes daily can make a huge difference in a student's life. I have attached a video that talks little about this research. Help your child find a book they enjoy and encourage them to read from it every day. And let's be honest, 20 minutes is not a long time.

ESSER 3.0 Stakeholder Survey
The Decatur County School System is seeking input on the expenditure of remaining ESSER 3.0 funds as of July 2022 to address issues relative to the safe reopening and sustaining of the safe operations of schools within the district relative to the continuing coronavirus pandemic. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below to help Decatur County Schools develop a budget plan for the expenditure of funds under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) of 2021.
