New Wing Opened
All 6th grade CORE teachers (LA, Math, SS, and Science) are now located in the main hallway. Additionally, our Mandarin Immersion, ESL, Interventions and Health classrooms are located in this hall. Students were given maps of where new classrooms were located prior to the break and we spent some time going over things upon their return. A fire drill is scheduled for Thursday in order to ensure everyone is aware of the new fire exits.
We are looking forward to additional office spaces coming online in the near future and appreciate our staff's flexibility and patience during this time. Let's get learning Panthers!
Conferences Coming Up
Conferences January 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th
Invitations will be mailed out on Wednesday the 3rd through Friday the 5th for our upcoming conferences. Please note conferences have been scheduled for students who receive Special Education Services, are in ESL classes, have a current 504, etc. If you receive an invitation, please return the conference form with your student as soon as possible.
If you do not receive an invitation for conferences you are welcome to call the office to schedule a conference (503.916.5700). Please note we have limited spots available, especially for 6th grader students. We will make every effort to schedule conferences during available timeslots and will have a waiting list if needed. In the event we can not find a scheduled time we will work to contact you by phone.
We have identified Tuesday the 16th for those preferring online conferences. No in person conferences will be available on this date.
We ask parents/guardians to arrive at the scheduled time. We will have staff available to direct people to the correct location. Students, and their families, will meet with CORE teachers (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science) in one location. Your party will be seated and teachers will come meet with you. We anticipate this will take thirty minutes. Elective, Intervention and all other teachers will be located in additional spaces and parents are welcome to drop in to speak to them at any time. We will have maps and information available upon your arrival.
We are looking forward to your visit.

Attendance Matters
Happy New Year! If attendance has been a challenge for your child this fall, now is a great time to make a new year’s attendance resolution to help your child get on track for success in school and life.
Now is a great time to set goals for your scholar's attendance. Here are some tips to help:
I will talk to my child about how going to school every day will help them do well in school and achieve their hopes and dreams
I will keep an attendance chart at home. At the end of the week, I will recognize my child for attending school every day with _ _ _ . (i.e. a visit to the park, a new book, a break from doing chores, a special treat)
I will make sure my child is in bed by p.m. and the alarm clock is set for a.m.
I will find a relative, friend or neighbor who can take my child to school if I can’t make it.
If my child is absent, I will contact his/her teacher to find out what he/she missed.
I will set up medical and dental appointments for weekdays after school.
If your student is out of school due to health exclusion, please connect with your student's teacher about accessing educational resources that can be done at home while your student is recovering.
