The Principal's Corner
It is hard for me to believe we have already made it to October and we are closing in on the end of the first quarter of school. We look forward to meeting with you at parent/teacher conferences in a few weeks to share the great things that have been happening in the classroom this quarter.
We are excited to welcome our Visible Learning consultant back toward the end of this month. While he is here, he will be able to spend some time in our classrooms and with our teachers. We are so lucky to have this opportunity to work with him.
We can't say THANK YOU enough for the outpouring of support for our Color Run!! We had the BEST time with our kiddos that day. We were lucky enough to have some amazing parent volunteers that helped us out that day, too. With the money we raised, I have already contacted our technology department to get the ball started on our new sound system. We will also have some money to put toward hopefully sending some teachers to the Visible Learning Conference this summer.
We have our fall festival and Book Fair quickly approaching. Please see the flyers below regarding both of these events!
Sincerely,
Darah Bennett

Book Fair! October 13-19th
Book Nook with Mrs. Hamilton
October is a busy month at the Primary School! October 13-19 we will have our Fall Book Fair. This year will look a little different because we are trying a new company, Literati. I am really impressed with the quality of their books, and they focus on books not the toys that have been so prevalent in the past. I know this may be a little disappointing to the kids, but I hope it will be appreciated by the parents who want their kids to come home with books. Literati offers digital gift cards that you can purchase in advance online so you don’t have to send cash to school and if you are able, you can purchase a gift card to help buy books for kids that would not get one without donations. Literati also offers a monthly subscription box where you can have books delivered to your door each month and our school will continue to earn money from your purchases long after the book fair is over. Please visit our homepage on the Literati website to view the online catalog, purchase gift cards, and learn more about Literati Book Clubs! Just click the link! Literati Book Fairs
Thursday, October 26th is our annual Fall Festival! Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance or at the door. You don’t want to miss this night filled with games, bounce house, photo booth, face painting, cake walk, concession stand, and a silent auction. All proceeds will go towards purchasing a new sound system for the Primary School and sending our teachers to an amazing professional learning experience this summer. We do ask that you send in two bags of individually wrapped candy for the festival and consider donating an item to your child’s classroom basket for the auction. The support of our amazing parents and community is one of the reasons that Pea Ridge Primary School stands above the rest! I can’t wait to see you at both of these events!

Hello Primary Families!
The school year is off to a great start! I have had the pleasure of meeting with many students already, and have loved getting to know your kiddos! October is National Bullying Prevention Month, so I will be focusing on how to be a good friend to one another in my counseling lessons. We will also be learning about how to be an upstander and using our "Big Voice" when someone does something we don't like. We will be reading “Billy Bully" in Kindergarten and “Juice Box Bully” in 1st and 2nd grade. We will practice what to do when we experience unkind behavior and how to help one another! We take bullying very seriously at the Primary. Here are some Bullying Resources if you would like more information.
We have started the SnackPack program here at the Primary. If your family is in need of extra food for the weekends, please send me an email!
Thank you for your continued support! Please continue to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. :)
