Canned Food Drive

Our canned food drive is still on!

This week we are collecting cans and placing your can in the box of the teacher you want to play Santa for the elementary Santa visits.

Choices are: Smith, Heidrick, and Roudybush

Can collection will continue until December 15, if we can raise a total of 2,000 cans then we will be released from school at 1:00 pm on the 15th.

Bring in your cans!

Closing out the semester

Our semester ends on December 15 with December 16 available for teachers to finalize grades. Your student's attendance over the next two weeks is critical. We will be wrapping up assignments, and projects and taking finals.

If your child is sick, please make sure to contact the high school office to let us know. We will be short on time to catch up on missing work - let us help your student make a plan!

Mr. Don Epps will be joining us for an assembly on Wednesday, December 7 during 5th hour.

We would love for parents to stop and join us!

One of our goals this year has been to increase our positivity, leadership, and PHS pride and Mr. Epps will be sharing with us how he brings the same values into his everyday life. See you there!

IMPACT Referral of the Week: Melinda Dent

Thanksgiving is in a few days and that holiday is about giving thanks. I want to give thanks to all of my teachers. Each has been a vital part of my education and life. The experiences I've had in their classrooms will never be forgotten. I'm thankful for Mrs. Dent. There's something about the vibe of your classroom when I walk in, it just feels relaxed. The science isn't too hard, it's actually pretty easy and really cool when you actually learn and understand it. We look at things (like the hurricane and Race the Sun) that I probably wouldn't have cared for when I was in any of my former teacher's classrooms. Thank you, Mrs. Dent.

Parents - We need you!

One of our goals this year is to establish a site council. Our site council would be made up of school personnel (certified and classified), parents, and students to help inform decisions that we make at school. The purpose of the school site council is to advise the school on such matters as student learning, education programs, school improvement planning, education planning, and accreditation issues. The site council also plays an advocacy role for the school regarding the same issues.

A site council is a commitment to the school in hopes of making it the best school it can be. It is a time commitment, but it is also a commitment to seek solutions to areas of weakness in our system. A great school is always seeking ways to improve and a site council helps to lead those improvements.

Sportsmanship and Rule 52

At any game or event, the worst feeling for an administrator is that they would have to address an athlete, coach, or fan regarding behavior. Passion and pride sometimes mix with frustration and show up in negative ways that can adversely impact the school, team, and community.

At all events, our goal is to provide a positive experience for our athletes and coaches. We want to cheer them on, provide encouragement and support them whether they win or lose. PHS Pride has been a goal this year, and our students have risen to the occasion, they show up and cheer each other on. I am so proud that our student section is growing into a fun and positive environment for our fans and athletes.

Below is the link to Rule 52 from KSHSAA - I encourage you to review these rules with your family. As we approach basketball season, you will see more leadership from our students in the area of sportsmanship, prior to each game our athletes will provide these reminders to fans to help promote a positive environment.
