We are off and running here at Sparling! Our entire staff would like to express a HUGE thank you to our Sparling Community for helping support our staggered arrival and dismissal. We are able to keep our hallways and entrances quieter at this time which helps support all our new routines and procedures! We would like to welcome Julie Schapansky to our Sparling Staff as our new Learning Commons Facilitator. She is a wonderful addition to our school community!

You will also find information on our Behavior Matrix which describes how our students are REAL Leaders. Please take some time review this with your child(ren)!

We have sent home registration forms, technology forms, and FOIP forms home for parent/guardian signatures and updates. Please ensure you have updated your information and it includes two Emergency Contacts. Forms are due back Sept. 18, 2020.

Sparling School follows the AHS guidelines and the BRSD School Re-entry plan. If a student or staff member shows Covid-related symptoms during the school day, they will leave the school as soon as possible and be isolated in the meantime. When a student is sick, the student will continue to wear a mask if they can do so safely. Covid related symptoms requiring a person to isolate legally are:

• Fever
• Cough (worsening)
• Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing (worsening)
• Sore Throat
• Runny Nose

When a student needs to go home with one of the above symptoms we need to follow Alberta Health's guidelines at this time. For a student to return to school they will need to be at home for 10 days and be symptom free or if a COVID test is done and is negative he/she can return if symptom free.

If your child has a pre-exisitng condition please contact us at the school and we can provide you the medical form needed.

The Shine Bright Early Learning Program will run:

If you have a 3 or 4 Year old child who has been recommended to apply for Program Unit Funding (PUF) support by a medical professional, AHS or current Speech and Language Consultant, please contact the BRSD Division Office to be considered for the limited program spaces for the 2020-21 school year. Please see the link below for the Pre-K application. This application can be emailed to inclusion@brsd.ab.ca or dropped off in the Division Office Mailbox

At this time school visitors, parents/guardians, and volunteers will not be allowed in schools. We are encouraging individuals to communicate through email, phone, or virtual meeting. If an in-person meeting is required we ask that an appointment is booked with our front office. We will be booking appointments, as much as possible, at the end of the school day to help support having minimal visitors during the day for safety purposes.

Please ensure you are using the crosswalk when entering or leaving school. It is vital we model this for our students as we have a very busy intersection. As well we need to ensure we are not dropping off or picking up from the staff parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.
