AREA B TECHNOLOGY

As March comes to a close, it a great time to review where you are as a campus concerning the Digital Literacy section of the CASE report (HB5). I have been working with the campus instructional technology specialists since September to ensure that there are procedures in place for data collection and program monitoring. Due to feedback received from many campuses, the Acceptable score for two performance measures has been lowered. As we continue to monitor this data, interventions can be put into place to ensure that all campuses meet the Acceptable criteria in each area. Additional details can be found below.

At the end of February, all of the Area B technology specialists submitted data to me to show their current score in each of the performance measures. For any areas where they are currently unacceptable, they were asked to give an exact percentage and an explanation as to why. Using this data, I will begin reaching out to principals to set up a time to meet to discuss any interventions that can help in those areas.

Please note that acceptable in this category is now 50%.

Teachers/classes should offer students digital classroom access that is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Possible resources include eChalk pages, Edmodo, Google Classroom, and any other Learning Management System (LMS) that teachers are using with students. Students show mastery of grade level technology competencies. This is evidenced through completion of the Student Technology Competency Checklist. Your campus technology specialist should have introduced these documents to your teachers and staff in the fall.

Acceptable in this category is 70%.

Teachers should have participated in a minimum of three (3) hours of instructional technology professional development. Only courses that involve technology integration can be counted for this category. These hours can be completed at the campus and district level. Hours must be completed by the end of April.

Acceptable in this category is 100% Level 1 Teaching staff.

All teachers on campus should be Level 1 Proficient. This includes all new teaching staff. If new teachers did not complete the class through Alief U, it is your campus technology specialist's job to walk them through completion of the Level 1 Technology Tools course.

I am available to support to your campus and/or specialist in the following ways:

• working with the campus ILT to develop a plan to meet minimum Acceptable standards in all categories.
• delivering campus-based professional development to help meet teacher PD hour performance measure.
• assisting new campus technology specialists with completing campus-based Level 1 Technology Training for teachers who need it.
• working with content specialists and teachers to plan lessons that integrate Technology TEKS into core content lessons (student tech. competency performance measure)
• working with teams/departments to develop Digital Learning Environments so that students have access to classroom resources 24/7
