Our teaching staff continues to gather evidence regarding student learning. Report cards will be sent home on April 22, 2021.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, our Grade 7 and 8 students will be participating in online presentations regarding Internet Safety. We are accessing the Saffron Centre and its public education programs. The following topics will be discussed:

• defining the internet
• encouraging critical thinking online
• importance of setting boundaries online
• information about privacy and cookies
• safety tips for social media and video games
• how to stay safe from hacking
• discuss what a digital footprint is

On Tuesday, April 13 @ 7:00 pm, we will host a virtual school council meeting through Zoom. Parents and guardians play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective, and ideas at school council meetings, parents actively contribute to the success of the school community.

Do you or someone you know have a child entering Gr. 6 next year who might be interested in our Late French Immersion program? Check out the information below, and if you have any questions, contact Mr. MacKenzie at the school!

As an annual check-up on the education system, the “Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) survey” provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success. The AEA uses a set of indicators consisting of results from surveys from students, parents and teachers around the quality of education.

Parents of students in grade 7 at ECKS should receive a survey from Alberta Education. You can also do the survey online by going to the link provided in your package and using the random access code that was mailed out to you.

In addition, students in grade 7 will also be completing these surveys online at school. All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences at school. Participation in the survey helps to provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage all stakeholders to participate in this opportunity. All surveys need to be completed by April 23.

For anyone who missed the original School Photo Day on March 19 or anyone who is interested in retakes, we have Smart Photography booked for April 21, 2021.

Thank you to everyone who helped support the VIP Meat Fundraiser. As you know, it was a joint effort between the ECKS Music Parent Association and the ECKS Learning Commons. Each party received $1061.30.
