Sierra School Scoop
March 20 - March 24, 2023
Principal's Message...
Hello Sierra Families,
Your child should have their report card today for the second trimester...check those backpacks! We are excited to see so much growth and progress as we move into the last part of the school year.
I would like to thank you for making regular, on-time school attendance a priority. As I've previously shared, our school is funded on students being present each day. Every day a child is absent affects their academic and social-emotional progress. The school also misses important funding that supports our various programs including: interventions, enrichments, after school clubs, sports, etc. This week, we had wonderful attendance overall. I am doing some classroom drawings on Mondays, and this week Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Shiro's class won, and every student that was on-time and present got a small treat from me. Who's next???
Have a wonderful weekend
Reagan Phillips

Library News
Hello Dragons!
We are in our 5th and final week of the California Young Reader Medal. Our final story was Grumpy Monkey written by Suzanne Lang and illustrated by Max Lang. The clue for this story was a stuffed monkey. This cute story is about a monkey named Jim that was kinda having a “bad day”. His friend Norman kept pointing out that Jim seemed grumpy, yet Jim kept saying he wasn't. In the end Jim realized he was having a grumpy day and that it was ok to feel that way. We have had 5 clues along with reading 5 nominated stories in the last 5 weeks. Next week your student will vote on their favorite book and we will send all votes to be counted with the state of California. I can’t wait to find out what story our school voted the most for compared to what the whole state votes for. Such a fun way for students to participate in the voting process all while hearing wonderful stories. We have switched from Alexandria library program to Destiny, you may get a notification in email if books are overdue. Please contact me if you have any questions about sending in a payment/replacing lost books 530-622-0814 ext 7636. Save the date, our Spring Literati book fair will be happening in May. Remember, good things happen when you read!
