Walk for Breakfast
We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our school community for their unwavering support of our Annual Walk for Breakfast.
The Breakfast Program plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every student at Sacred Heart Academy starts their day with a nutritious breakfast, setting the foundation for a day of learning and growth. Your continued support allows us to fulfill this mission, and for that, we are truly thankful.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to the local businesses, community groups and private individuals who have generously contributed to the event through their donations. Your contributions make a real difference in the lives of our students, and we are profoundly thankful for that.

Halloween
Sacred Heart Academy students may wear Halloween costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31st. However, they should be appropriate for the school environment. Students are expected to use good judgment and good taste in their choice of costumes. Costumes must be in accordance with the school dress code. No roller blades, skateboards, etc are permitted. Props must not present a safety hazard and must be in accordance with school policies, i.e. no guns, knives, swords, light sabres, etc. Any mask or costume that obscures a student’s face is not allowed. We encourage students to be creative, dress up with friends and have fun.
The allergy awareness policy prohibit students and staff from bringing food items into our school for distribution to classes. Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks to scheduled class celebrations.
After School Programs
Our after-school programs will be resuming this month. Information on the start dates of specific programs will be sent home with students along with permission slips. Students must have their rides arranged for 3:30 p.m. A SchoolMessenger message will be sent home in the event of any cancellations.

School Bus Safety
As we are into the second month of school, bussing expectations should be well versed and followed by our student population. Unfortunately, the expectation of how to act and ride the bus is an everyday reminder to keep all our student’s safe. Please remind your children to respect the rules of the bus especially sitting in their seats properly, hands/feet to yourself, inside voice and most importantly showing respect for everyone riding the bus. These reminders go a very long way in keeping all our students happy and safe.
We want to remind parents/guardians and students of the following school district student transportation policies:
Bus Stop Supervision and Safety: The responsibility for the safe and timely arrival of students at a school bus stop, and the student’s safe return home from a bus stop, rests with the parent or guardian. Parents/guardians shall be encouraged to limit the time that students spend at the bus stop and to arrange for supervision of their children at the bus stop where appropriate.
Parent/Guardian Expectations: Parents/guardians are expected to support school bus safety and the efforts of the bus driver and school staff to maintain order, discipline and control of the bus. Ensure that their children are at the bus stop on time and supervised at the bus stop when necessary.
Kindergarten Students: Kindergarten parents/guardians should be outside on the stop waiting for your child to either get on or off the bus. The bus driver will not allow kindergarten students to leave the bus unless they can see a parent/guardian.
Additional information is available on the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District website (www.nlesd.ca) regarding student transportation policies.
