Our second anneal "Skate Station Spirit Night" is happening this Friday, Oct 6th at 5:30 - 7:30. You don't want to miss this fun entertaining event. Invite your whole family and neighbors to come and join us. The cost is $6.00 and it includes your skate rental (You pay at their location not the school). They do have a concession stand if you wish to eat there.

"Join Bikers on the Trail and SORBA Jax this Saturday at a FREE biking event for kids--Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day located at Rivertown's Riverfront Park. This event is open to everyone in the community, so please invite all of your family and friends!

Riverfront Park has two miles of biking trails--the first mile is a multi-use clay loop that all kids of bicycles can ride, while the second mile is off-road singletrack made for mountain bikes. This is a wonderful facility that has its own dock, restrooms, and walking paths and is a great place to relax outdoors.

Admission is FREE, the only requirements are riders will need to provide their own bicycle and helmet.

We will be teaching riding skills on and off the trail and helping kids and adults rediscover a love for bikes!

This fun exciting event is open for our DCSS families and friends so spread the word, everyone is invited. If you prepay for your wristbands now through Oct 11th, you'll receive 2 free tickets per wristband purchase. You'll receive your wristbands and tickets at the entry to the event the day of. All these donations will be used for the grade level game booths. We'll be collecting donation the week of Oct 9th - 13th. You can drop of donations at the front office or during car line in the morning. Don't forget, for every $10. donation you get 1 volunteer hour. Due to Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico pretty much got destroyed. We are asking Parents and Students if you can, to please donated a hygiene product purchased in the Dollar Tree. Please note, they should be travel size items. All donations will be donated to Hurricane Maria Hygiene Drive for various communities in the south end of Puerto Rico. Donations will be accepted at the front office.

DCSS requires each single student family to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours and 30 hours for multiple students attending our school. We're half way through our first quarter. You should have at least 1-2 volunteer hours by now. If you don't, there's different ways of earning your volunteer hours. Look at the very bottom of this flyer for more information on how to earn volunteer hours.

Still don't have your hours in? There are 3 options available:

1) Volunteer at events, classroom, cafeteria during lunch time, and/or chaperone at a field trip.

2) Donate to the used uniform sale before the end of this school year (donations made at front office). Each piece = 30 minutes

3) Donate $10 for each volunteer hour needed. Money goes to such things as our PBS parties and Awards Ceremonies for next year, recess equipment, music/band equipment, or technology. Checks can be made to Duval Charter School at Southside, and may be dropped off at the front office. Please write your Child's Name, Grade and Teacher to ensure proper credit.
