Dear Parents and Guardians
I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone that is involved with each one of our children throughout their daily lives. We could not be as successful as we are if you were not here to support the school and all the students within its walls.
Academic Updates: Our teachers have been working diligently to ensure that our students are progressing in their studies. As we approach the end of the first semester, please look out for report cards that will be sent home in January. If you have any concerns about your child's academic performance, please do not hesitate to reach out to their respective teachers.
Holiday Break: Please be reminded that our winter break will begin on December 22nd and classes will resume on January 8th. We hope that this time off will provide our students and staff with a well-deserved rest and an opportunity to recharge for the new year.
Attendance: Attendance is a key factor in student achievement and our goal is to ensure that every student attends school regularly. Showing up for school has a significant impact on a student’s academic success starting in pre- kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. However, we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically. Research shows missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:
- Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Ensure your children go to school every day unless they are truly sick.
- Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
- Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your children feel anxious about going to school.
We believe that by working together, we can help your child develop a love for learning and a habit of regular attendance that will last a lifetime. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact our school’s front office.
In closing, I want to wish all our families a safe and joyful holiday season. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to provide the best possible education for our students.
Best regards,
Mrs. Prince

Arbor Aviator Tutoring
Starting Monday Dec 4th we will be holding Math tutoring afterschool for our students. We will provide a light snack and movement before getting to work. We are hoping that this will help our children to grow in their math skills. We will have tutoring till December 20th and then start again on Wednesday January 17th. We will use I ready interventions during this time to help our students understand math and math language.
Behavior Code of Conduct
The Academy’s Code of Student Conduct is based on the premise that students require a positive, safe, learning environment that encourages learning without disruption. When a student chooses to disregard the rules of good conduct, they not only reduce their own opportunity to learn, but disrupt the learning process of others. The code of conduct includes the subcategories of social behavior and discipline, inappropriate conduct, after-school detention and unacceptable behavior/disciplinary action.
At the Academy students are expected to:
· be in attendance and punctual each school day
· be in uniform each school day
· demonstrate honesty, courtesy, kindness, and proper respect to all
· demonstrate respect for school property, as well as property of staff members, fellow students and school neighbors
· use language that is deemed acceptable at all times
· obey all classroom and school rules and regulations
· report interference with their ability to participate in and benefit from their educational opportunity
I'm pleased to announce that Kim Hommerding will be coming back this year to support Arbor as their Behavior Specialist.

Arbor's Uniform Policy
I would like to review the uniform policy for Arbor Academy. We have to keep the building a little cooler over the next few weeks due to testing in the computer lab. Your child can wear a sweater but it has to follow the dress code (no hood, solid gray, navy, or white sweater). All students are to be dressed neatly according to the following guidelines:
- Navy blue or khaki pants, skirts, or walking shorts (not sweatpants or blue jeans)
- White or blue shirts with collars, bearing no insignias other than the Arbor Academy logo (no crew neck T-shirts)
- Any visible undershirts must also be white (no navy polos or navy dresses)
- Navy white or gray sweaters (no sweatshirts)
- Navy, gray or white socks or tights (solid color only)
- No open-toed shoes, crocs, heels or shoes with wheels.
*Parents will be contacted to correct the situation if a student is in violation of the dress code.
Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
Early Dismissal
Students who need to leave early will need to provide the office the date, time and reason for early dismissal as well as the name and number of the person picking up to contact if necessary. Also we will need to know by 3:00 if you are picking up your child early. After 3:20 we will ask you to stay in the car line and wait for your students if arrangements were not made earlier in the day. When picking up your student we ask that you stay in the office for the safety of your child and other students.
Please understand students are expected to remain in school the full instructional day (8:20-3:30 pm). We understand appointments come up and students may need to leave early. Our goal is to ensure our students are given all opportunities to learn and maximize instruction with minimal classroom interruptions.
