Reminders...
Coyotes!
A few important reminders:
- During nutrition and lunch, there is no eating allowed over the red lines.
- Cell phones are to be off or on silent and in backpacks. Students should not have their phones in their pockets.
- Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
- No gum.
Please follow the rules. Not following these expectations will result in lunch detention and/or after school detention.
Student Safety
Backpack Pulling
Recently, we have seen a lot of students pulling on the backpack handles of other students, this is not allowed. This behavior is unsafe, and someone could get hurt. Please review the expectation of keeping their hands to themselves. We want everyone to be safe and respect the personal space of other students. Failing to follow these expectations will lead to consequences. Thank you, Coyotes!
Walking to and From School
Student safety is our top priority for our students and staff. Recently, we have received phone calls about students crossing at Fairmont and Santa Ana Canyon. For everyone's safety please review the following with your student:
Students:
1. Students should always use the crosswalk.
2. Only cross the street on a green light.
3. This is not the time to engage in horseplay with your friends.
4. Be aware of cars in the turn lane, make sure they see you before you cross.
Parents:
Santa Ana Canyon Drop-Off Area
1. There is no right turn on Red from Fairmont onto Santa Ana Canyon. Please watch for students.
2. Please pull all the way forward, it is okay if your students have to walk to the stairs.
3. Do not double park.
4. Avoid blocking the intersection at Fairmont and Santa Ana Canyon.
5. Follow all rules of the road.
6. If you would like to avoid the traffic, plan to pick your student up a little later, about 3:05 PM - 3:10 PM, it is so much easier.
We DO NOT recommend picking up students in the Hibachi or Big Lots parking lots. Students should not be in either area after school unsupervised, even on early release Thursdays.
Tutorial
PE Tutorial Requirements
While the PE TEAM can't wait to have you come down and be active in tutorial, there are a few qualifications:
- Have Binder Reminder filled in for the week
- No stamps/Detentions/Discipline Notations for the week
- No injuries/Dr. Notes on file
Tutorial Menu-November 1 & 2
On each Wednesday and Thursday, we have Tutorial for 30 minutes before lunch. Students should use this time to make up tests, complete missing assignments, and get help from teachers when needed.
Students who are stamped by their teacher must attend that tutorial session. If stamped by multiple teachers, the subject that has priority that day takes precedence.
Students who have C grades or better, are not stamped by a teacher, and do not have any detention stamps, can go to PE, the Little Theater, or Library to complete homework. It is the student's responsibility to check their grades prior to Tutorial.
Students have a 5-minute passing period to get to their tutorial room. Once students arrive at their Tutorial destination, they stay there for the entire 30 minutes. Please use the menu below to make a plan for this week!

Nominated by an El Rancho parent, they acknowledged that she not only supports the students at El Rancho but the parents too! "We have just started the new school year, and she has already gone out of her way to make sure my student is succeeding. She is one of a kind!" stated the El Rancho parent. Information and Resources
Administration and Communication
El Rancho administration works as a management team with three assistant principals, called advisors, who work alongside our Executive Director, Mrs. Walker, to help students be successful. Advisors work with students in the areas of attendance, academics, behavior, and scheduling. The student body is divided into groups by their last name and assigned to an advisor who is like the principal for that part of the alphabet. Students with Section 504 Plans will have Mrs. Beard as their advisor.
Advisors are always happy to help answer general questions regarding school programs. We encourage families to first address questions regarding the grade book, assignments, and classroom interaction to the individual teacher and advisors can be cc'd on communications at any time.

Attendance Hotline/Attendance Office
Mrs. Cannon, our Attendance Clerk, appreciates your phone call if your child has to miss school. Please call the Attendance Hotline 714-628-5427 on the day of your student's absence.
Please check Google Classroom for work missed up to 3 days.
Students who have a planned absence that is more than 3 days should pick-up an absence form at the attendance office.
During Tutorial, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please avoid picking students up early, between 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM.
The Attendance Office is for signing-in students who are late to school and signing-out students who are picked-up early from school.
