BHS FOOTBALL TEAM VISITS!
Thank You So Much to the BHS Football team for coming to visit our Waller students!! OMG ~ the kids had the best time, and they didn't want their time with the football players to end! They all made #1 finger signs with their buddy, and were able to play catch with a football on the playground, or just hang out with their buddy on the playground equipment! Just think....less then 10 years from now, they might be coming back to Waller to have a Buddy of their own!! 🏈 Some Special Friends were made today!!
WALLER FUNDRAISER
Thank You So Much to those of you participating in the Reading for Education Fundraiser! We are truly grateful for all that you do to support our Waller Family! On top of being a fundraiser, this helps put more books for children into our classrooms!

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
Waller will observe Fire Prevention Week this upcoming week. We will be doing a Fire Drill on Thursday morning, assisted by the Fire Department! Firefighters will stay after the drill and talk about fire safety, with our 4K, Kindergarteners, along with 1st and 2nd Graders! They will also get an up close look at the Fire Truck!
OCTOBER IS SAFETY MONTH

Safety within our school is a priority for the Burlington Area School District. As part of our safety plan October will be school safety month. This means we will practice a drill each week during October. This will ensure our staff are discussing and practicing safety protocols with all of our students.
To kick off School Safety Month, we will first focus on Fire Safety with a Fire Drill being had on October 3rd, followed by another drill with the Fire Department's visit on October 12th. Teachers will be discussing fire safety throughout this time with the students.
Our next drill will be the Tornado Drill - this will be held on Tuesday, October 10th. There are Safety Presentations online, on BASD's School Safety website. Taking time to talk with students is one step in helping students think about how to respond in any emergency situation. Your children may come home with questions about safety in school or at home. The School Safety website has resources that can help guide these conversations.

OPERA FOR THE YOUNG EVENT
Third Grade Parents ~ Save the Date ~ Mark Your Calendars ~
On Wednesday, November 1st at 1:30, Waller will be hosting Opera for the Young! This years performance will be "Beauty and the Beast". Each year our 3rd graders are able to perform along with the cast that comes to Waller by learning the music, and some of the kids by learning a few lines in the story! Some students will be part of the "onstage" chorus, and others will be performing on risers as the "offstage" chorus. Families are welcome to attend the performance and the gym doors will open at 1:15 for the event.
Mrs. Barczak will annouce which kids will receive roles by the end of the school day on October 13th. Please encourage your child to practice their parts between now and the performance. SCHOOL PICTURES
There have been questions regarding the school pictures that were taken on September 21st. If you ordered a picture packet, they should be arriving sometime in October! If you didn't get a chance to order, a small proof will also arrive for your child to bring home - parents can still purchase pictures using the password provided on this proof card that comes home!
If you don't like the pictures that you ordered, please return the packet on Picture Retake Day (November 2nd) and have your picture retaken. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Network Photography at 262-677-8662.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS - ATTENDANCE MATTERS
During the month of October we will be working along with the Milwaukee Bucks in a program called "Attendance Matters". Any student that attends school every day in October will receive a certificate honoring you for your achievement, and you will be eligible to receive one complimentary Bucks ticket with the purchase of at least one additional ticket. Tickets will be available to select 2023-24 regular season home games. Stay Healthy!
WALLER FIELD TRIPS
As Field Trips are about to get started for this current school year, we wanted to let all parents know that with the current Budget Cuts, the schools are no longer able to cover the costs for these trips. Permission Slips will be sent home along with the cost to cover the entrance into the field trip event and the bussing. All students will be required to bring this back to school before the field trip day.
