08.25 Hornet Headlines

August 25, 2023
From the Desk of Superintendent, Dr. Kevin S. Miller
Dear Licking Heights Families,
We are back and better than ever! Now that we all have one full week of the school year in the books, I want to offer my gratitude to all of the staff members who provided our students and families with a smooth transition from summer break back to the classroom.
From the custodial team who clean every corner of our schools; to our maintenance and buildings and grounds team; to the transportation team, bus drivers, and transportation assistants who safely drive our students every day; to the Food Services team cooking up a healthy breakfast and lunch at each school; to the teachers and administrators who educate the next generation of leaders, I am so proud to be a part of the Licking Heights team.
I also want to give a special shout-out to our district office team—including our student workers—and all of those involved in registering new students throughout the summer. The registrar and new student enrollment staff processed over 662 pre-registration forms, resulting in 588 new students (and counting) joining our district. This includes 284 new kindergarteners! Thank you to all staff members who participated in our annual form/EMA support days for families at West Elementary, too.
I know you join me in my excitement to see all that our students will accomplish during the 2023-2024 school year. With a varsity football victory, a parade float palooza last weekend at the Pataskala Street Fair, and the hiring of 110 new staff members (and counting), it is easy to have high hopes for this year.
In the meantime, have you checked out our 2022-2023 Quality Profile? Quality Profiles are popular among Ohio public school districts as a compliment to the State Report Card from the Ohio Department of Education. This year, Licking Heights created our first-ever Quality Profile to celebrate the students and staff who make our district such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Click the yellow button below to view our full Quality Profile for the 2022-2023 school year—we hope you enjoy and maybe see a familiar face or two.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin S. Miller, Superintendent
