Thanks to everyone who attended and supported our annual Veteran's Day Assembly on November 9. It was a great celebration of service!

The 8th Grade will be going on a field trip December 8th to James Rumsey Technical Inst. and Blue Ridge Community College.

Permission Slips were sent home and need to be returned ASAP.

We are in need of parent volunteers for this field trip. Please contact Ms. Reeves at wendy.reeves@k12.wv.us if able to help. Chaperones must be approved through the Secure volunteer system: volunteer registration system (Secure Volunteer).

Please use the link below to update your contact information for your student(s). Having the most up-to-date information is very important, as it allows staffulty (teachers and administrators) to contact you.

Please download the latest BCS mobile app to get the latest info about the district and SMMS. Be sure to go to the settings icon, then notifications. Click on Spring Mills Middle School to get our news and updates. You will also have the opportunity to add other schools to receive notifications for the specific schools.

For the safety of our students, it is important that the following procedures be adhered to when dropping off students to school.

We have noticed and increasing number of students arriving prior to 7:15 a.m. Please be mindful that no student should arrive to school prior to 7:15 a.m. unless he or she rides an early bus and is escorted inside by a staff member.

If students continue to arrive early,

we will be contacting the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers to help at the SMMS Book Fair. The start date is Nov.27, 2023 and continues to December 7, 2023. Please look at the dates and times that would work for you. The volunteer slots are in two hours slots.

We will begin the 2023-2024 basketball season on December 4 with a home game versus North Middle. Our full schedule is provided below. We will have limited print copies of this pocket schedule at our first several home games.

• November 20-24: Thanksgiving Break
• November 27: Students Return to School
• November 27 - December 1: Book Fair
• December 5: SMMS Science Fair
• December 12: Choir Concert at SMMS in the Gym* (This date has ben updated)
• December 19: Band Concert at SMMS in the Gym* (This date has been updated)
• December 21: Marking Period 2 Ends
• December 22-January 2: Winter Break
• January 1: Happy New Year!
• January 3: Students Return to School

Thanks to our 6th grade ELA/R teachers for allowing the students

to exercise their creative writing (and crafting) skills.

On Thursday, November 16, we participated in a community-wide send off

for the SMHS football team.
