Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
On Friday we held a mufti day for Children in Need and we raised an amazing £1049.34. During the course of the day students took part in lots of fun activities to raise money and Year 8 students and tutors planned some fantastic fundraising activities including Guess the Bear's Name and Guess how many sweets are in the jar. Well done to everyone involved

Year 7 Student Katie:
Following on from her success in September Katie has attended a number of shows and on Sunday 21st November, Katie qualified for Cruft's with Tatty. Tatty is mum to Katie's dog Koko who she qualified with in September, Puck, Koko's sister also qualified at the same show. Katie then finished the day by winning the Junior Handling class for ages 6 to 11 and will now attend the semi-finals next July. Altogether Katie and Koko came home with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two Reserve (4th) placings. Fantastic, well done Katie!

Pictured is the Year 7 Accelerated Leader board for this week. Students can now take Accelerated Reader Quizzes for books they have finished reading. Year 8 board will be displayed next week.

Maths:
Mr Lee has nominated Year 10 students Floreen, Cameron B, Julia, Millie, Josh, Alicia, Kia, Olivia and Seth for excellent work in Maths.
Mr Lee will be announcing the best year 7 form each week for the completion of their Sparx homework. The first weeks results will be ready next week. In the meantime, make sure your homework is done to an excellent standard!
Mrs Wynn has nominated Year 10 students Alexander B, Jolanta and Sophie H for their excellent results for the 'find the gap' on solving equations and inequalities. They have shown great understanding and progress.
Drama:
Mrs Hallybone would like to say well done to Year 11 Drama students who had a physical theatre workshop with a visiting practitioner from GymJam theatre company. They were introduced to a number of physical and ensemble strategies that they can apply to their devising projects they’re currently working on. Students worked extremely hard – they gave it their all despite it being a very busy time for them. Mrs Hallybone is very proud of how well they participated in the session. Sixth Form:
Mr Hallas would like to pass on his thanks to Debony and Dylan in Year 13 for taking time out of their busy schedules to speak to our younger students at the Celebration Evening. It is always wonderful to see students stepping out of their comfort zone, especially when speaking in front of a large audience. Their message to the award winners was one of encouragement and support. Well done, Debony and Dylan.
Humanities:
Mr Strumpher has made the following nominations this week:
Year 9 Geography students Stas, Isabella, Matty, Kara and Dylan for producing high quality work and for their really good responses in Geography lessons.
Also nominated are Year 8 Geographers Rares, Jude, Daniel, Riley, Kinga and Kade for working really hard in Geography and producing high quality work and responses.
Mr Hallas would like to nominate to following students for the level of detail they included in the recent end of topic test in Geography. It is always wonderful to see students developing their ideas and adding accurate locational detail to their answers – well done!

Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
Seth (10CA) and Yunus (10SW) for drawing accurate diagrams in each lesson in coasts, and making sure that they are all labelled correctly. Well done to the whole class for their commitment to the studies and completing the KC.
8TU for their commitment and effort in both geography and history in this past topic. Charlie and Oliwia have shown extra commitment throughout.
Harvey and Morgan (7CU) for showing great geographical skills in this for past two terms. Keep it going!
Music:
Year 7:
Miss Patrick would like to celebrate Lily in 7TE this week for her brilliant leadership in group project work and being brave enough to sing all on her own – excellent work.
Year 8:
8SW impressed Miss Patrick with their ukulele performance this week, with many students opting to challenge themselves with a complex strumming pattern. A special mention to Cade, Jayden W, Kinga and Gabrielle who all played brilliantly.
Year 9:
This week year 9 began planning their final film music projects. Miss Patrick saw some brilliant ideas from Thomas 9SW, Joshua B in 9TE and Angela and Kian in 9CO and can’t wait to hear everybody’s finished pieces next week!
Miss Patrick would also like to celebrate Filip in 8CO who was awarded a distinction in his grade 5 drumming exam – which is an absolutely fantastic result – well done!
Art:
Miss Bowman has nominated Wiktoria (7CO) for her fantastic homework relating to our topic of Day of the Dead. The homework linked well with the celebration which sees a lot of bright colours. She showed great understanding of symbolism and her drawings related to the facts and information successfully.
Also, well done to 8SI for their brilliant Art class, this week. We were creating our Da Vinci inspired sketchbook pages with watercolour and all students were focused and on task and produced some fantastic pieces of work which worked well for our formal elements of colour, tone and texture!
Science:
Scientists of the Week are:
Year 7 student Archie for amazing knowledge within Science.
Year 8 student Jennifer H who is very passionate about elements and the periodic table an has made notes in her personal notebook about the different elements. Jennifer always engages with the lesson and contributes well thought out answers.
Year 9 student Milena G for consistently working hard within Science.
Year 10 student Olivia for amazing presentation and effort within Science.
Year 11 student Brandon A for working so hard in Chemistry at the moment.
Mr Godfrey has nominated Jennifer, Sebastian, Oliver, Stefan, Evie and Joel in 8ST for their great work in recent lessons.
MFL:
Mrs Gonzalez-Villamil Lean has nominated her Year 7 class for showing a great deal of excitement and energy during a revision sessions in the computer rooms. Also nominated is
Year 8 student Erica for her impeccable work ethos and classroom etiquette.
Computer Science:
Mrs Simpson would like to say well done to Year 8 students who have come to the end of their ‘Introduction to Python’ programming module and Mrs Simpson has been impressed at the determination and resilience many have shown when writing code and fixing errors when the code doesn’t work as intended – which is common place in programming! We’ve seen many budding programmers and Mrs Simpson would like to nominate Radu in 8SI, Kinga in 8SW and Lubo in 8TU in particular for their effort and determination.
Engineering:
Mr Harley has nominated Year 10 Engineering students for the excellent team building skills in this weeks engineering challenge.
English:
Miss Bhimjiyani has nominated Year 7 Student Evie (7SI) for a fantastic poem written in the creative writing club, this is pictured above.
