MWMA Podcast, "Do You See?"
Our school podcast, "Do You See?" is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Spreaker, and many of the platforms where you might go to get your podcasting fix! You can subscribe to automatically download the newest episodes or search for topics on which you would like more information. Of special note to new families is Episode 11, "Montessori 101".
Go to your podcast platform of choice and search, "Do you see? Montessori" to find us and listen to our latest episodes. (You can also find the podcast by clicking on the tiny microphone in the upper right hand side of our website.)
We just released a new episode, #14, "Attention!": In this episode, Ms. Angie, Ms. Alisha, and Ms. Autumn discuss focus and how students engage with work. They examine the idea of the state of “flow”, as researched by a Hungarian psychologist whose name Ms. Angie bravely attempts to pronounce, and Ms. Alisha says some things that she hopes her students never hear!
We are planning an upcoming episode in which we answer questions from parents and students, so if you have a question for us, please email us podcast@mwmacademy.org at with the title "Podcast" and we will see if we can get to your question.

SCHOOL COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Ms. Marianne Noble
SAFE UT
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness month. Sadly, suicide is the number one cause of death for students ages 10-19 and losing even one child to suicide is one too many.
This month I would encourage all of you to download the SAFE UT app on your phone and your student’s phone. The SAFE UT app allows kids to chat with or call a counselor if they are in crisis. It also allows them to submit a tip about a student in their school or community who they know may benefit from some extra support.
In addition, parents sometimes hear things about their children’s friends that may be concerning. The SAFE UT app enables parents to submit a tip to the school about any child they may be concerned about. The app can be downloaded for FREE in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. SAFE UT provides confidential and password-protected services 24/7.
For more information, check out their website https://healthcare.utah.edu/uni/safe-ut/.

Jessica Decker, LE Teacher
Hello! My name is Jess Decker and I am a member of the awesome Lower Elementary team here at MWMA. I love working in a Montessori classroom and helping students find their natural passion for learning!
I want to share just a little bit about my experience in education. I graduated in 2010 from BYUI with my B.S. in Elementary Education. I have lived and worked in education all over since then, from Arizona to Germany, lastly Idaho, and I have found a home here at MWMA.
I really love being a teacher, it is what I was meant to do!!! I believe Montessori is such a beautiful way to give children the space to work at their own pace and find what they truly love about learning. I strive to create a safe and positive learning environment for my students to grow and learn.
