Reopening Information
March 7, 2021
Dear Mt. Baldy School Families,
Thank you for your assistance in completing our most recent survey last week. Your information allowed us to move forward with our reopening steps.
The most recent data regarding COVID-19 infection rates in San Bernardino County are currently at 9 per 100,000. The State of California Blueprint for a Safer Economy was updated last week to include a vaccine equity metric, and these changes will influence future county tier calculations. Although our county remains in the purple tier, the case rate is trending downward daily and we are optimistic that we may see a rate decline which will move us into the red tier.
We are currently taking the steps necessary to reopen our school for in-person instruction. The small student count within each of our classrooms permits us to plan to reopen in compliance with all required safety measures including physical distancing.
Below please find our proposed reopening schedule approved by our school board and contingent upon satisfaction of all safety requirements:
Monday, March 29 – Pupil Free Day (note, this day has been moved from March 12). This day will be used to provide training for staff and conduct safety walk-throughs.
April 5-9 – Spring Break
April 12 – All staff report on campus. Distance learning still occurring.
April 19 – In person instruction begins (for grades 7-8 as well IF the case rate is under 7 per 100,00)
Students will be on campus between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Further information about specifics such as the bus schedule and the instructional program for families who opt to have their student(s) remain home will be released in the coming weeks.
I know you share our excitement and hope for these last months of the 2020-21 school year. We have many details to work out over the next few weeks as we prepare ourselves, our students, and our school for a return after over a year of distance learning. You have been incredibly patient and supportive of your children and our staff during this trying year. I trust that we all will continue to move forward with a belief that we all are doing the best we can and will be able to work through any challenges that we encounter with yet another transition.
We are looking forward to seeing your children!
Sincerely,
Nancy Sirski
Superintendent/Principal

More Cause for Celebration!
We are excited to share a wonderful logo to commemorate this important achievement. It was designed by Mariah Gray Jochai, a Mt. Baldy School alumni and co-owner with her husband of a highly successful graphic design company, Craft-o-Graph in Portland, Oregon. Mariah also created our updated school logos as a generous show of support for our little school.
We are looking forward to creating connections and hearing the stories from 100 years of Mt. Baldy students this upcoming year!
