Sloan Wins the GMS Spelling Bee!!!
Graham Middle School hosted the school-wide Spelling Bee on January 5th. This year, 7th grader Jozee Sloan came out on top of a record breaking 79 participants, far exceeding last year’s 46 students participating, in a spelling bee that took over 3 hours to complete! In order to participate, students must pass a qualifying exam in their language arts classes, but then also muster up the courage to stand in front of the entire student body for the event.
Our champion, Jozee Sloan, will now take a qualifying test at the end of the month/first part of February to see if she qualifies for the Regional Spelling Bee.
We had a group tie in second place (based on how the rules are established) which included Mason Burrall (8th), Mason Law (7th), and Chloe Wilson (8th).
Thanks go out to our staff for allowing flexibility in scheduling for qualification and for the event. Special thanks go out to our Spelling Bee coordinator Mrs. Black
