Help Us Judge the Science Fair
We are looking for parents of students in Kindergarten through 4th grade with some science background to help judge our 5th Grade Science Fair.
The VV Science Fair and the SARSEF Regional Fairs are 100% virtual which is why only 5th graders are participating from Ventana Vista.
The judging will take place from February 10-12 and will be done remotely. You will have a rubric to help judge, and you will also give feedback to the projects that you look at (Feedback example: I like how you... and one thing you could work on is...). We will meet remotely one time as a group to determine the students who will move on to the SARSEF Regional Fair.

Health Office in Need of Volunteers for Test-To-Stay Program
To assist with COVID-19 testing of students and staff, we are looking for immediate volunteer assistance to work with the Health Services staff at all schools within our district. We need help with on-site testing, reporting, contact tracing, and documentation of results. We are looking for adult volunteers. Volunteers are needed on average for three to five hours daily Monday through Friday, during school hours. Volunteers can choose in advance which days to work. Relevant training will be provided. A background check and fingerprinting may also be required of volunteers. PPE will be provided. If you have any interest in this opportunity, please contact Rachel Howard, RN, District Health Coordinator, at rhoward@cfsd16.org for more information. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe so staff and students can continue in-person teaching and learning.
Family Engagement Update
Ms. Bayless’ class is the Class of the Week this week!
Each week at Ventana Vista, we have a designated Class of the Week that is tasked with making a positive difference in our school community. Last week, Ms. Henikman’s class was Class of the Week. They brainstormed ways to be kind, helpful citizens of our school community. Her class challenged us to think like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and find one way to make a helpful difference, no matter how big or small. Even a simple smile, compliment, or opening a door for someone can make a difference! They also made pictures with messages of kindness and placed them in the MPR to help inspire us to be better. Let’s think of Ms. Henikman’s class this week as we try to be peacebuilders and make a difference in our school community and beyond!
