We are so excited to be able to welcome some OLHMS 7th graders to Hannum on Friday April 28th, where they will be partnering with 1-5 grade classrooms and reading outloud to them and helping out in classrooms as well as writing inspirational messages to our kids on our front walk.(if it doesn't rain). We are always happy when we see some of our older student come back to mentor our students.

In order for the Hannum Library to hopefully be finished close to when school begins in August, the contractors need a little time this year to begin. Beginning May 1st Mrs Keblusek and Mrs Lazinek will take their "show on the road" and go into classrooms for their library classes. Books will not be able to be checked out at this point.

Please make sure that if your child has a book at home that they return it by the last week of April. These ladies have been trying to pack up the Library which is not an easy job, so the more things we can have back to them on time, the easier it will be.

We will be practicing a relocation drill on Tuesday May 2nd. This would be in the event of a gas leak or other reason that we cannot safely remain in the building. In that case, we would go to St Germaine School. If something like that happened to them, they would come here. So trying to coordinate 2 school calendars is not always easy, but we were able to do it. We have not nailed down a time yet, but previously we have done it in the morning and they have come to us after lunch in the afternoon. More info will be announced as the date gets closer. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Enrollment is continuing for the D123 Summer Programs! Summer Programs are mostly at Kolmar School this year, with Special Education programming at Hometown School. Please sign up as soon as you can as some classes get filled up very quickly! Summer Programs begin June 12-June 29 and July 10- July 13. No class on Fridays. D123 Summer Programs are open to ANY student. Public, Private or Parochial...grades Pre K-8. Please click on the link for more information about this year's summer school.

Now that everyone will be coming back to school, our traffic issues will return as well. Please see the attached map for where to drop off and where you can park if you want to get out and walk your child to their line.

Here are some reminders for helping us get kids in and out of school safely:

• PLEASE pull up as far as you can go when you are letting students out of the car.
• PLEASE do not park across the street and have kids run across to get either to the school or back to your car.
• PLEASE be patient as kids are getting out of the car.
• PLEASE do not block the entrance and exit of the school parking lots and
• PLEASE do not park in the driveway of St. Germaine School. (You may pull into the spots in their parking lot, but do not park in the driveway....except for next week...see above)

Our school will be serving nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day. If you qualify, you can receive free or reduced lunches. Please call the office if you need information about how to qualify. The cost of breakfast is $1.50 and the cost of lunch is $3.05.

BREAKFAST will be served in the main hall of our school beginning at 8:10-8:25am. Students will enjoy their breakfast in our multi-purpose room and then will go to their line to start the day.

LUNCH will be ordered with your child's classroom teacher every morning. Students will be able to choose from 2 choices. Students can also bring a home lunch and only order a milk. Milk only is 60 cents and students can choose white or chocolate. You can add money to your child's meal account through Skyward. https://www.d123.org/departments/operations/lunch-menus

DOUBLE LUNCH Many of our older students like to order a double lunch. I ask if they have permission and they say they do... then parents are surprised that the lunch balance goes down so quickly. I have told our 4th and 5th grade students that they need to have permission to do this, so please speak to your children about this.

Grades 3 and 4 eat from 11:25-11:50

Kindergarten eats from 11:55-12:20

Grades 1 and 2 eat from 12:20-12:45
