✅ Interims
Interims for Marking Period 1 are October 5.
Grades are subject to change as we are continuing to assess your child every day. There are some grades that are blank on the progress report. This is due to the fact that some measurement topics are not taught until later on in the quarter or not until later on in the year.
📓 Curriculum Corner
Math ✖️➗
In math, students will continue to learn about the properties of multiplication and division with units of 2-5 and 10. They will then move into learning about place value and problem-solving with units of measure. Students explore measurement using kilograms, grams, liters, milliliters, and intervals of time in minutes. Students begin by learning to tell and write time to the nearest minute using analog and digital clocks.
Reading 📗
In reading, students will wrap up their work on Benchmark Unit 1: Government for the People. Then students will begin work on Benchmark Unit 2. Students will identify story details, distinguish literal from nonliteral language, describe how characters contribute to the sequence of events, and compare plots and characters between stories.
Writing ✏️
Using lessons from the Benchmark Curriculum, students will continue to work on writing in response to reading using both fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will hone in on parts of speech as well as writing complete sentences.
Science 🔎
Students are building their knowledge of forces and motion by using the engineering design process to create a car. They will conduct multiple observations to identify what happens to the distance the car can travel when different masses are added.
