There will not be classroom visitors or helpers on this day.

RED RIBBON WEEK 2022
"Red Ribbon Week is October 24-28. Red Ribbon Week was created to promote a Drug Free Lifestyle, and educate students on the dangers of using drugs and alcohol. Our sixth grade students worked hard to create Public Service Announcements used to encourage our community to be drug free. The faculty voted and selected three winners to read and record their PSAs at the local radio station and on our announcements, and three runner-ups to read their PSAs on the announcements. Our three winners of the PSA contest are Naomi Jacobs, Korie Herne, and Sadie Ayotte. Our three runner ups are Sophia Premo, Avery Chapman, and Paul Holcomb. Congratulations everyone!!"
RED RIBBON WEEK 2022
Every year Massena Elementary students and staff wear red ribbons or bracelets while participating in a week of fun activities that bring awareness to the destruction caused by drugs in America. Red Ribbon Week helps to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people.
Red Ribbon Week takes place this year from October 24-October 28. You will find below a list of the fun and crazy activities that each elementary school has planned for this year. Please encourage your child to participate and have fun!
The theme for 2022 is “Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free.”

This Week's Character Strength: Creativity
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Creativity. Creativity means you come up with new and original ways to think about and do things.
Creative people can look at the world in original ways. They are open to new experiences, and have an imaginative and independent thought process. They generate lots of different ideas and can pursue them with energy and enthusiasm. Creativity is a process that takes courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.
On a group level, creativity is vital. It helps us solve seemingly impossible problems, create something we never knew we wanted, or simply see the world in a new way. Technological examples include the printing press, refrigeration, electricity, automobiles, and the internet. Just think of what we’d be missing without Renaissance art, Enlightenment thinking, Harlem Renaissance jazz, or hip-hop emerging from the South Bronx in the 1970s and 80s.
To practice and encourage the character strength of creativity with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!
