Belleville High School
Belleville High School
Good afternoon, BHS Families! This is week #10 of Semester 2, and the beginning of Quarter 4! This is also the 2nd week of testing week (9th & 10th Grade). Students will need to have everything turned in and made up by the end of this week. Parents/Guardians, please be sure to frequent MiStar/ParentConnect and reach out to teachers as needed if there are any questions or concerns.
TESTING? AGAIN, GET SOME REST, and START EARLY!
Parents and Guardians, with testing continuing this week, please be sure your student is getting a good night's sleep and eating something in the morning to help sustain the "brain power" needed to last the 3-4 hours until lunch. We believe in their ability, and know it takes both physical and mental stamina to be as successful as possible.
SAVE THE DATE! April 26th @ 6:00pm or 6:30pm
For this month's Tiger Parent Meeting, we will be joined by families of incoming freshmen for a briefing over our programming and plans for the next school year and beyond. The 8th Grade/Incoming Freshman Open House begins at 6:00pm and we will start the regular Tiger Parent/PTO Meeting at 6:30pm. One of this month's focus items will be around ideas for ways to show appreciation for our caring and hardworking teaching staff. Don't miss this opportunity to get involved in something purposeful! Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8th - May 12th.
THANK YOU for your attention to the information in this week's newsletter. Enjoy the week - GO TIGERS!!
~ Principal Crockett, AP Mrs. Green, AP Mr. Roberson, AP Ms. Slingerland, BNT Director Mr. Wilsey, and Athletic Director Mr. Brodie

During the month of April we are highlighting the Business & Technology Pathway
Business professionals conduct a wide variety of job activities to boost sales and revenues, improve cash flows, and increase an organization's profitability. Given their valuable expertise, these individuals are usually in high demand. They also enjoy lucrative salaries and many career opportunities across sectors.
A business degree qualifies graduates for a variety of challenging and well-paid careers; the examples below represent a few of the most popular specialization areas. Each field contains many concentrations and subspecialties, which opens myriad possibilities to students planning
Accounting
Accounting involves the recording and management of financial records. College programs feature rigorous courses in math, accounting principles, and economics. Associate degrees can provide entry-level employment, but certified accountants need at least a bachelor's degree.
Business Administration
Business administration relates to the management of all business operations, including resources and people. Administration degrees focus on leadership, finance, and decision-making. Careers of varying seniority are available with all degree levels.
Business Management
Management requires planning, organization, and the direction of business operations and employees. Students in this field learn communication and leadership skills. An associate degree may allow graduates to pursue some entry-level management jobs.
Economics
Economics leverages theory and quantitative methods to analyze and guide decision-making. Economics programs provide broad analytical training, which proves useful in many fields. Minimum education requirements vary depending on the job title.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is the process of creating or establishing a new business or organization. College programs typically focus on innovative thinking, ethics, and business fundamentals. Motivated entrepreneurs can launch business enterprises, no matter their education level.
Finance
Finance explores the study of money management, including investments, assets, and liabilities. Degrees focus on the development of applied skills and theoretical knowledge. Entry-level finance careers are obtainable with an associate or bachelor's degree.
Human Resources
Human resource management involves recruiting, hiring, and managing employees. College programs offer training related to communication, leadership, and legal/ethical knowledge. Many human resources jobs require a bachelor's degree.
Logistics
Logistics studies the supply chain, i.e., how goods move from supplier to manufacturer to customer. These programs develop student knowledge related to business operations and management. A bachelor's satisfies the minimum education requirements for many logistics jobs.
Marketing
Marketing professionals promote products/services and build customer relationships. Marketing programs develop student skills in communication, data analysis, and critical thinking. Many entry-level jobs require a bachelor's degree.
Public Relations
The public relations field is dedicated to managing and spreading information to promote positive reputations of businesses and individuals. PR students develop communication, research, and writing skills. Many PR jobs require at least a bachelor's.
Sports Management
Sports management professionals fill behind-the-scenes positions in amateur and pro sports. They may represent athletes, advance branding and public relations objectives, and build revenues for leagues and franchises. A bachelor's degree is a common requirement for entry-level roles in this field.

HALL SWEEPS and LATE ARRIVALS
- Due to an apparent comfortability with getting to class late, BHS will be returning to Hall Sweeps. Students caught in the halls after the late bell has rung will be scheduled to serve SAME DAY DETENTIONS. Parents and guardians, please speak with your student about the Excellence that being on time exhibits. Timeliness is a life skill that speaks to dependability and responsibility!
- Also, this is a reminder that SCHOOL STARTS AT 7:10am. We are getting an abundance of students coming to school and being dropped off late - which negatively affects their learning, other students' learning, and the classroom environment as a whole. We believe in our students, and their ability to be great. It starts every day at 7:10am!
Morning and Afternoon Traffic Flow Reminder
GREAT NEWS! In addition to our Tuesday/Thursday Homework Lab and Tutoring options for after school, we are now introducing the teacher-led Tutoring schedule. Students report directly to the designated teacher's classroom after school. CLICK HERE for the Tutoring Schedule, and revisit often for updates.
DRESS CODE - By now, some of you have received an email saying that your student has received a Dress Code violation. While these are minor infractions (typically for wearing a hood in the building or wearing a crop top or pajama pants), they can add up! Please be sure to speak with your student if they are receiving multiple of these emails. Besides academics, we are also teaching employability skills - which in many cases includes following a workplace dress code. Thank you for your support!
SCHOOL SAFETY
BUILDING, STUDENT, AND STAFF SAFETY
In light of recent events, and as a firm reminder of a couple of our safety basics please be intentional about discussing these two with your student(s).
Building Entrances/Locked Doors: All entry doors in the building lock at 7:10am. After this, the only doors that may be utilized are at the Main Entrance. Students are not to open, leave from, nor prop open building doors. Failure to follow these safety protocols results in immediate suspension.
Metal Detecting Wands: BHS began last year and continues this year utilizing wands as a metal detection option. These wand searches will take place in randomly selected classrooms during randomly-selected hours. Our goal is to continue to build upon our swift, yet thorough process to help detect anything that could be deemed as potentially dangerous. We believe that the random selection process will be more effective than announced, routine, or predictable searches. These "wanding" events will be attended and supervised by our local law enforcement.
TRUANCY - 5 Day Letters
NOTICE: Any family who receives a 5 Day Truancy Letter has a student who is at risk of failing the semester, and has a higher risk of not completing high school. PLEASE reach out to your student's counselor or assistant principal if your student is having issues with attendance. There may be solutions that haven't been considered yet. Don't let it turn into a 10 day problem...
Per the Student Handbook, any student who is absent from school for all or any part of the day without a legitimate excuse will be considered truant. All students and parents are subject to the truancy laws of the State. If a student, under the age of eighteen (18), is truant for more than ten (10) total days during a semester, he/she may be reported to the appropriate authorities. As a courtesy, BHS will send letters for any student who has been absent for 5 days.
ABSENCE NOTIFICATIONS:
ATTENTION PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: If you receive an attendance notice via phone or text, this means your student MISSED AT LEAST ONE CLASS that day. If it was not approved by a parent/guardian, this is cause for a follow up with them. Tardies will be handled through the general discipline policy checklist as a minor infraction.
STUDENT HANDBOOK AND DRESS CODE
An excellent educational experience is always undergirded by a safe and orderly environment. Please take the time to review the Student Handbook, which includes the BHS Student Dress Code. For a quick review of items to avoid, please click the link for COMMON DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS.
In particular, students will not be wearing:
- Hoods
- Crop Tops
- Ski Masks
- or any bedwear or grooming attire, including pajamas or pajama bottoms, hair scarves or durags.
