Guidance Gazette

The purpose of this mid-month Gazette is to inform students and their families of the Distance Learning plan for the RCS Guidance Department. It is our mission to continue to deliver school counseling services to all students, virtually, during the COVID-19 school closure.

The Guidance Department will be available by email, holding virtual office hours from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Options for videoconferencing will be available to those needing real-time meetings with the counselors or school registrar and students should initiate that request via email.

The deadline for returning course selection forms has been extended. Students should plan to turn in course selection forms when we return to school.

** Next week, students will be given information for entering their course requests in PowerSchool. These instructions will be emailed to students and school counselors will be available via email to answer any questions regarding the process.

High school students who wish to take an online class through NCVPS, please visit the 2020-2021 NCVPS course catalog for a list of available classes. Please complete the NCVPS interest survey (only RCS students will be able to provide responses for the survey) which will serve as our application until we return to school. Remember, NCVPS enrollment is subject to approval by administration.

Interested in taking free PCC classes as a high schooler next school year? Currently Rising Sophomores and Juniors with an unweighted 2.8 are eligible. Fill out this google form to get on the list. Keep an eye out for application announcements.

Unless you hear otherwise, assume that all college enrollment dates and details are the same. This means that you should continue working on your scholarship applications, FAFSA, and any other items required for college from home. Make sure to check your admitted student portal and email every day. This will be the main method of communication for colleges.

Local scholarship applications have been scanned and are available to print by clicking here: Local Scholarship- Class of 2020. Until we return to school, this will be our virtual Scholarship Application Box. Please continue to visit the RCS Scholarship List for new scholarships as they become available.

Please email Ms. Ragland or Ms. DeVillier to request transcripts. Please be sure to include the complete name and mailing address for where you need your transcript sent. Students who need assistance with printing should email Ms. DeVillier or Ms. Ragland, as well.
