VICKERS MUSIC
Happy New Year from the Music Department!
We had a great Christmas season in the Band/Music program with successful concerts for K-4, Choir, and Grade 5-8 Band on December 4th and 5th. The choir sang "O Canada" on the ice at the Raider's game on December 14th and entertained with Christmas carols at the Rose Garden Hospice and KIN Enterprises on December 17th.
Vickers Band Parents Association is scheduled to work a bingo on January 10th so if you would like to earn a $50 credit towards your child’s spring band or choir trip, please contact Ms. Lohneis for more information or to sign up. Credits earned can be used for this year’s trips or carried over to future Vickers Music trips (so current Grade 4 families can even get a head start on band trip fundraising this year if they’d like!).
The PA Music Festival registration deadline is January 18th. If your child is interested in playing a solo, duet, trio, quartet, etc. they should talk to Ms. Lohneis about picking their song(s) in early January. The Vickers Band Parents Association will cover the cost of instrumental registrations ($20 per solo, $25 per duet, $30 per small ensemble), with the expectation that students who register are committing to practicing, preparing, and performing all of their selected repertoire. Ms. Lohneis will be there for instruction and guidance through the entire process. Vickers students have represented the school very well with their excellent performances at instrumental Music Festival (as well as Band and Choir!) and I’m sure this year will be no exception. I look forward to seeing what wonderful things the students will accomplish!
Thank you for your continued support of your child's music education!
POLAR BEAR CLUB
Polar Bear Recess keeps students walking and playing outside on days where it is colder than -30 degrees (extreme cold warning will void club activities!) given that they must come properly dressed.
This should include:
Toque, Jacket, SKI pants, mitts, boots, etc.
PRINCE ALBERT & NORTH EAST REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR 2025!
Exciting Opportunity: Prince Albert and North east Regional Science Fair 2025!
Is your child curious about science, technology, or engineering? We are thrilled to invite students to participate in the Prince Albert and North East Regional Science Fair on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Science Centre in Gateway Mall, Prince Albert.
Many parents may think their child can only participate if their entire class is entering – but that's not the case! Students can enter the fair individually, and it’s a fantastic way to showcase creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
What to Expect: Participating in the Science Fair is a fun and rewarding experience. Students in grades 5-12 can showcase projects in various categories, such as math, physical science, life science, computers, and engineering. Projects should follow the fair’s safety and ethics guidelines, and students will need to present their project to a panel of judges who will evaluate their understanding and creativity. It’s a great way to learn presentation skills and dive deeper into subjects that fascinate them.
For students in grades 7-12, there’s an exciting chance to move on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from May 31 - June 7, 2025. While only these grades are eligible for nationals, all students from grades 5-12 are welcome to join in the regional fun!
Whether your child is fascinated by math, life sciences, or engineering, there’s a place for their ideas at the Science Fair. Let’s get creative and have fun with science!

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Our staff parking lots are a “no drop off zone” as they are out of bounds for students.
We urge parents to support us in this safety endeavor by dropping off your children on the west side of the school on Olive Diefenbaker Drive; on Bradbury Drive, east of the Special Needs bus zone and between Gisi Road and Olive Diefenbaker Drive.
We encourage the children to cross all streets in a safe manner by crossing at the corner or at cross walks. Teacher supervision is also provided at our major crosswalks.
The Community Club rink parking lot is the bus pick up zone after school for our parents to meet their children for pick up. Please refrain from turning around in the driveways, as this is disruptive to the homeowners.
