August Review
What We Learned
New Beginnings
We did a lot of "new" things in August. We debuted the new salad bar and we had a guest welcome us back to school in the form of dance. Yet most importantly, we welcomed a new class of Lake Panthers to kindergarten.
Student Voice Debuted
#studentvoice has received rave reviews. If you recall from my Panther Blog, I'm implementing a daily future of student voices - hearing from a student every day of the school year. Each week I will pose a different question to a Lake Panther. The question is asked on the spot with the hope that students give their most honest response. If you have a question you'd like to be asked, please reach out to me as I'd love to have your input.
APTT - Academic Parent Teacher Teams
Our Lake Junior High Staff is looking forward to implementing APTT. The APTT model supplements and elevates the efforts of traditional parent conferences by expanding opportunities for families and teachers to collaborate. The format creates a systematic pathway for teachers to share grade-level information, tools, and strategies that families can apply at home and in the community to accelerate student learning. By implementing APTT, schools take responsibility for engaging in a collaborative process to build strong relationships with their students’ families and to empower those families to make concrete contributions to student growth and achievement.
Junior High Parents, your participation in APTT is what makes this parent-teacher conference model so successful. Please join us the following dates per your child's grade level:
Grade 6 - Tuesday, August 27
Grade 8 - Wednesday, August 28
Grade 7 - Thursday, August 29
All meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner provided by the school. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. end time.
Electives
We feel very fortunate to be able to offer electives to our students in grades 4-8. And what a great selection we have in Trimester 1. The list of electives includes:

Visit with your students about the choices they made.
Coming in September
September is right around the corner. Be on the lookout for news coming home regarding Grandparents Day (Friday, September 6), Spaghetti Feed & Carnival (Saturday, October 12), and more. Also, due to Grandparents Day being held on the first Friday of September, we will be moving the monthly assembly to Friday, September 13.
Event Information
Spaghetti Feed and Carnival
The Lake Panther PTO has begun planning for the biggest fundraiser of the year. While PTO plans and organizes the event, we depend on every parent to lend a hand. Be on the lookout from teacher Reminds and emails from Mrs. Baker regarding ways you can help. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a community to host the Spaghetti Feed and Carnival. Stay tuned!
