Katherine Johnson
Katherine Johnson is a GO CAPS student in the Agriculture and Food System Strand. Katherine's GO CAPS CAPStone project teaches students about agriculture and where their food comes from. Katherine was recently in Mrs. Blevins' 5th-grade classroom at MIS for three days teaching students about the MO Beef for MO Kids program. She prepared and taught three lessons and conducted activities to go along with the lessons.
The MO Beef for MO Kids program builds connections between the school cafeteria and where the food comes from. The goal behind MO BEEF is to have more beef more often in the lunchroom while implementing food and nutrition education in the classroom. MO Beef Kids have supported over 50,000 farmers and ranchers!
"With my capstone project, I plan to expand into more classrooms in the SW Missouri area and share about this program." - Katherine Johnson

GO CAPS - CAPStone Projects
Congratulations to the GO CAPS Monett students for completing their CAPStone projects. A CAPStone project allows students to pursue a topic that interests students personally and deeply. Students clearly define a problem and develop a solution while working with a mentor. The goal is for students to earn confidence, overcome obstacles, and develop solutions to real problems. Students researched, planned, experimented, volunteered, made connections, and made them curious lifelong learners.
