LCMS Weekly Newsletter
Friday, December 1, 2023
Dear Lubbock-Cooper Middle School Families,
This week we got to showcase all the wonderful things that are going on at LCMS to members of our Board, District Leaders, and other Campus Administrators. They had nothing but great things to say about all the students and staff here at LCMS and I am so very proud of each and everyone in our building!
Sincerely,
Jess McReynolds, Cathy Barnhill, Tracye McCallister, Jeffrey Thompson
FYI~ Traffic Flow for Monday!
The funeral for Lubbock Firefighter Matt Dawson is scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, December 4. He will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park (just north of Lubbock-Cooper High School) following the funeral service.
A very high number of service attendees is anticipated, in addition to several large emergency operations vehicles. The funeral procession into the cemetery will likely fall during or near dismissal time for Woodrow-area campuses. and TxDOT plans to temporarily block off the north portion of Loop 493 to allow the lengthy procession to safely and efficiently enter the cemetery.
Because entry/exit of the Lubbock-Cooper High School campus will be directly impacted by this closure, LCHS will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4.
South Elementary and Lubbock-Cooper Middle School dismissal schedules will remain the same; however, if you plan to travel south on Highway 87 to pick up your child at South Elementary or LCMS on Monday, please note that Loop 493 north of Woodrow Road, (including the Loop 493 exit off of Highway 87) will be closed to north and southbound traffic. You will need to use the Woodrow Road exit instead. Loop 493 will reopen following the graveside service.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dawson family and the Lubbock Fire Department at this time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
12 Days of Christmas Spirit Days
December 6-21: Please join the staff in celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas Days!
Pep Rally! Wednesday, December 6
We will be having our 2nd Pep Rally of the school year on Wednesday, December 6th. Parents and visitors are welcome to attend! To help with traffic flow and seating ease, please reference the maps here for parent specifics on entrance and seating. Parents will enter through the west side behind the football stadium entrance this time (this is the same main entrance typically used for games). There will be a table that staff are checking parents into there. Our goal is that this will cut down on traffic congestion and for accommodation of seating areas. Thank you for your cooperation.
