Principal's Newsletter
May 2019
Dear Parents,
As I write, there are a little less than 8 weeks left of school—and we have SO much left to do! As this last marking period winds down, please be sure to encourage your child to maintain the great work ethic and study habits they have utilized all year long. It is very easy to get “distracted” by the longer days and beautiful weather we are now having.
Although this is the time we get active outdoors, don’t forget to encourage your child to pick up a book and read. Whether in the car, on the sidelines, on the front porch swing, or by the pool...they can learn, grow, and explore new worlds!
Sincerely,
Ms. Moore

A Reminder About Classroom Assignments
As summer approaches, so do thoughts of the next school year. Our school policy is that we do not honor requests from parents for placement with a particular teacher in a particular class. If a parent is dissatisfied with the placement that has been made, the principal must be contacted, in writing, and informed of the reasons. The principal will evaluate the situation on its individual merits and inform the parent(s) of the decision.
The staff at IMS knows your children’s educational, social and emotional needs. You can be confident that each child will be looked at carefully and placed with a teacher who will challenge and support them during the next school year.
No Social Busing
The Shamong School District does not allow “social busing.” Children will not be dropped off at unassigned addresses, regardless of whether or not the drop off is on the same bus run. Please direct any questions to Ms. Cherie of the BOE office at 609-268-0316
Lost and Found
Your items want to go home with you! In the hallway in front of the All Purpose Room is a rack set up with all the Lost and Found items that have been collecting. Please check this ASAP and pick up any lost items. We will be packaging them up and sending them to a charity at the end of this school year.
Parent Information Reminder
Please remember that when you have any new contact information, you can and should update it ASAP via the RealTime Parent Portal. Please make sure ALL your contact numbers are listed and up to date (mom’s cell, dad’s cell, etc.) Also, each student should have at least 3 alternative contacts listed (neighbors, relatives, etc.) in case parents can not be reached. If you have any questions or issues with the portal please send an email to aklouchek@shamongschools.org.
Parking Request
Please be aware that some spots in the parking lot are designated for use only by certain users. If a parking spot has a sign that designates it for “Traveling Staff”, “Nurse”, etc., please do NOT park in those spots. They are reserved for these staff members. Thank you for your cooperation.
Early Dismissal Reminder
Reminder: NO LEFT TURNS – AM & PM DROP OFF
It has been observed that there is a problem when parents make a left from Indian Mills Road into the parking lot for parent drop-off and pick-up. Please continue on to the 1921 building and turn around there so that you can make a right into the parking lot. Cars in the drop off and pick up lines should not block the school driveway. The buses have to be able to enter and exit, without car interference.
Dress Code Reminder
The warm weather is here! Please remember that our dress code requires all students to have 1” wide straps on all tops and no bare backs. Additionally, all shoes must have straps on the back—no flip flops, slides or clogs without straps. Any student that comes to school without adhering to the dress code will be asked to change. This is about safety, our #1 concern.
