Rose and the Rime is a fantasy play written by the House Theatre of Chicago's creative team Nathan Allen, Chris Mathews, and Jake Minton in 2006. Rose and the Rime balances a fantastical plot with the human themes of greed, power, birth and age.
Synopsis
The Michigan town of Radio Falls has been trapped in a perpetual winter for an entire generation, cursed by the Rime Witch and her magic coin to an eternal blizzard that blocks every way in or out of the town. The last moment of warmth and passion in Radio Falls gave the town its only remaining child; a young girl named Rose, who is determined to save the town from the Rime Witch's curse. Her success, however, comes at a cost. The magic of the witch's coin can either nurture or destroy those who possess it, and Rose and her town begin to understand the true ramifications of power.
2024 -2025 CoSA Applications are NOW OPEN!
DID YOU KNOW? The most common way a student found out about CoSA as a school choice option is by “word of mouth” from an existing CoSA student or parent. The easiest way you can support future artists attending CoSA is by talking about CoSA with everyone you know!!!
Please share the opportunity of becoming part of our creative CoSA Community with friends and loved ones who you know and would like to support the development of student artists!
One of the most commonly share sentiment among CoSA students is that they enjoy the like-minded gathering of peers and feel prepared with real life experiences.
The CoSA Council works to bring Cross-Conservatory opportunities to CoSA students in order to build a sense of belonging and solidarity among creatives.
The CoSA Foundation Board is also working to create opportunities to build community for parents as our CoSA family population extends across San Diego County and also includes our greater Military families.
About CoSA
Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is San Diego County’s premier public school arts conservatory, home to 200 scholar artists grades 9 through 12, who attend the nationally ranked Coronado High School. CoSA provides an intense, pre-professional arts education to students from Coronado and from all over San Diego, who are admitted after a competitive application/audition process.
Each school day CoSA offers three or more hours of instruction, pairing young artists with educators who are also industry specialists. With a curriculum designed by professional artist/educators, students are immersed in their chosen specialty in one of six conservatories: Classical and Contemporary Dance, Digital Arts (Animation, Filmmaking, Game Design, and Graphic Design), Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre & Drama, Theatre Production, Design & Management and Visual Art. CoSA is a State of California-approved Career Technical Education program.
