We hope everyone had a nice weekend! We're already moving into October and have a busy week at LVMS with many sporting events, clubs starting up, and Student Council Elections. As a reminder, all Washington Township Schools are CLOSED this Wednesday October 5th. Also, don't forget, schools will be closed for students on Monday, October 10th.
This week is also the annual Week of Respect across the state of New Jersey. Don't forget to check below for the events planned by our Guidance Department.
Phone calls for attendance reporting and hand written notes for dismissals will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED.
As of October 1st, all reporting of this information is required to go through PickUp Patrol. If you require assistance with PickUp Patrol please complete this from or contact our Main Office.
Highlights from Last Week
MAP TESTING: Last week all students grades 6-8 took district MAP testing. This is an assessment that will be used to measure growth and student progress over the course of the school year. Students that missed testing will take a makeup over the course of the next two weeks.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT SUCCESS: Back to School Night last week was a success! Thank you to our staff for great presentations and thank you to all of our families for joining and supporting LVMS.

PICKUP PATROL IS CURRENTLY LIVE AND PARENTS ARE ALREADY ABLE TO UPDATE STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND PICK UP INFORMATION. PHONE CALLS OR WRITTEN NOTES ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED!
LVMS will utilize PickUp Patrol in the following ways:
- Reporting Student Absence from school (sick, doctors appointment, etc.)
- Reporting a student coming to school late
- Requesting to pick up a student early from school
- Giving permission for a student to walk home after school or NOT take the bus.

Stuff the Bus - Item Drive
National Junior Honors Society (NJHS) is hosting the "Stuff the Bus" Item Drive for the Long Valley Interfaith Food Pantry from October 17th - 21st. All items can be brought to homeroom each morning during this week.

It's Student Council Election Week at LVMS! Students will have the opportunity to vote for their student representatives this week.
10/4: Candidates Meet and greet during lunch periods
10/6: Candidate Video commercials will be played during social studies classes
10/7: Elections will be held during social studies classes

Yearbook Club
Destination Imagination (DI)
Destination Imagination (DI) is a problem solving competition team that challenges students to think creatively and use their imagination to design a unique solution to a multi-tiered STEAM challenge. We have two teams of students from grades 6th through 8th. For more information about DI, look on Mrs. Bohrer’s website or stop by room 32. An informational meeting will be held for interested students Tuesday, October 4th after school until 4:15.
Free 2 Be
Free 2 Be is the Long Valley Middle School's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) and is open to all students. Free 2 Be will support students' efforts to raise awareness and acceptance within our school community and meets every 2nd and 4th Monday before school. Please contact Mrs. Hollman or visit the Guidance Office for more information.
LVMS Rock Band
The LVMS Rock Band is now accepting auditions for the 2022-2023 school year. Interested in playing guitar, bass, or drums in a band? Want to meet and collaborate with musicians? See Mr. Forrestal for more details.
Music Production Club
Interested in learning how to record and produce your own music? Sign-ups for the Music Production Club are now open. Gain experience working behind the scenes at the Winter and Spring concerts. The Music Production club meets Friday mornings. See Mr. Forrestal for more information.

Athletics - Fall Sports
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team lost on Friday to Bernardsville by the score of 2-1. The game was tied going into halftime thanks to Ryan Murawski’s goal. The Panthers played their best game of the season and continue to gel as a team. Great job! Remember, today's away game versus Mendham has been canceled. We will have an away game tomorrow at Warren Hills.

Girls Soccer
The Girl´s soccer team won their game Friday by the score of 8-0.
Scoring goals for the Lady Panthers were Kaylee Vieira, Ava, Cronin, Alanna Vieira, Olivia Gaskill, Georgia Hostler, Adrianna Georgiev, Peyton Gifis and Paige Fahrman. It was another dominating performance.
The team will look to compete again today, Monday, with a home game against Mendham after school.

Girls Field Hockey
Field Hockey beat Chester on Friday 7-1 with 3 goals from Lexi Buchanan, a goal and an assist from Cecelia Holl, a goal and an assist from Cassidy North, a goal and an assist from Reese Jones, a goal from Millie Moir, and an assist by Madison Candura. Field hockey has a home game against Mendham today after school.
