Principal's Message
Hello E.O. Green Community,
Thank you for picking up your student on time on regular and minimum days (Wednesdays). For safety reasons and due to traffic congestion, we recommend that you use the back gate on Carty Park on "F" and Zion Street. These two streets have ample space for you to park and meet your students. Thank you.
Here are some updates for this coming week:
The week of Oct. 25th-29th will be Red Ribbon Week. Therefore, all students can participate and come to school next week with non-uniform shirts. Although the shirt/blouse can be non-uniform, it must be appropriate for school; the pants need to follow our regular uniform expectations.
Monday -- red-- Caring
Tuesday -- orange -- Fairness
Wednesday-- green -- Responsibility
Thursday-- yellow -- Respect
Friday-- blue -- Trustworthiness
Please join us for a Parent Engagement and Fall Reclassification Celebration Meeting. This parent meeting is a virtual event.
In addition to our counselor's topic for November, we will recognize all students who have met "Reclassification" this school year.

According to the weather forecast, it is raining on Monday, October 25. Please, ensure your student dresses accordingly. It is essential to have a conversation with your student about staying away from water puddles and staying dry at all times. Please ensure the Chromebook is inside the black protective case and wrap your student's Chromebook in a plastic bag of some kind to keep it from coming into contact with rainwater. The goal is to prevent Chromebooks from getting damaged due to water.
We are excited that last week we launched the after school GREEN free music program, Mariachi. So your student still has time to join this fantastic opportunity and learn to play an instrument. See the details below.
Mrs Melgoza-Vasquez, Principal
What is Red Ribbon Week?
Enrique (Kiki) Camarena was a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who was tortured and killed in Mexico in 1985. When he decided to join the US Drug Enforcement Administration, his mother tried to talk him out of it. "I'm only one person", he told her, "but I want to make a difference."
In honor of Camarena's memory and his battle against illegal drugs, friends and neighbors began to wear red badges of satin. Parents, sick of the destruction of alcohol and other drugs, had begun forming coalitions. Some of these new coalitions took Camarena as their model and embraced his belief that one person can make a difference. These coalitions also adopted the symbol of Camarena's memory, the red ribbon. Now, each October 23rd-31st Schools participate in Red Ribbon Week, an alcohol, tobacco, other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign.
