No School on Monday
Winter Weather Preparedness
The winter weather season is here, so the time to be prepared is NOW! If a delay due to weather conditions is necessary, Little Miami will make an announcement via the SwiftK12 notification system (LM phone calls, emails & text messages), post on LM social media & website, and report delays/closures to local media stations.
LM utilizes 90-minute delays when weather warrants a delay and not a full school closure. Please save the above graphic for your use on days we are on a delay! Preparedness tip: print and tape the graphic to your refrigerator for convenience!

Family Information Night - January 16th
Erin's Law
Ohio recently passed Erin's Law, Senate Bill 288, becoming the 38th state to do so.
Erin’s Law is named for Erin Merryn – who was sexually abused and raped by an adult neighbor from ages 6-8 and then by an older teenage cousin from ages 11-13. Both threatened her if she did not stay quiet. Erin’s Law mandates specific instruction to students in grades K-12 to include child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention, and sexual violence prevention. Instruction must consist of recognizing dating violence warning signs and characteristics of healthy relationships.
To provide instruction meeting Erin’s Law requirements, Little Miami Local Schools is partnering with the Child Advocacy Center of Warren County to implement the Child Safety Matters curriculum for all students in grades K-6. A family information night will be held on January 16th at 6:30 PM in our Central Office Panther Room. To RSVP please fill out this Google Form. We aim to provide engaging, fun, developmentally appropriate lessons that educate and empower students to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, relationship abuse, digital abuse, and other digital dangers. A trained facilitator will be implementing the program in classrooms.
Additionally, students in grades 7-12 will receive mandatory instruction as a part of their required health course; teachers will use lesson plans from Maximum Freedom. As per Erin’s Law, instruction and information provided cannot be connected in any way to any individual, entity, or organization that provides, promotes, counsels or makes referrals for abortion or abortion-related services. All parents will have the option to opt their child out of this instruction through a provided form.

WoodHenge: A Little Miami Podcast
The podcast is called WoodHenge, named after the ancient, fossilized structures buried under Little Miami High School. There are woodhenges worldwide, similar to stonehenges, but it's believed that the woodhenge buried under LM was left during the Hopewell era.
The point of the podcast's name is to show that we are "uncovering" the truth about Little Miami High School, just like woodhenge was uncovered!
This year's guests include Dr. Kevin Harleman, Mrs. Adrienne Sanders, Mr. Rob Mason, Jasmina Abduganieva, Alena Greulich, Mackenzie Evans, Kyle Mangan, Mr. Lovins, Edie Loffer, Mr. Woodruff, senior Sam Schmidt and multi sport athlete and standout student, Gabby Wilson, Bob Genheimer, the George Rieveschl Curator of Archaeology at The Cincinnati Museum Center.
Latest Episode:
For the last episode of the fall semester, Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick are joined by Mr. Wysong, an LMHS science teacher in his first year in the district. They chat about life as an administrator, plans for winter break, and some tasty side hustles!

Fiscal Focus
Despite significant student enrollment growth over the last ten years, LM has strategically stretched out the funds generated by the passage of the 2011 Emergency Levy for more than ten years. This funding represents one-fifth of LM’s total operating budget and is a vital piece of the district’s financial health. These funds were renewed in November 2020.
However, with continued enrollment growth and increased demand for student support, a request for new funds will need to be made of the community in the near future.
Ohio public school districts are required by law to prepare a five-year forecast of projected expenditures revenues twice a year. As reported in the May 2023 Five Year Projections, a revenue shortfall is expected in FY2024.

Imagination Library - ENROLL TODAY
DID YOU KNOW? By the age of three, a child’s brain is already 80% developed, and, by the time a child enters kindergarten, they must already know thousands of words in order to succeed in the classroom. Reading aloud to a child and giving them access to books is the best way to ensure they are prepared to enter kindergarten.
The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library wants to start a new chapter in early childhood literacy throughout Ohio by providing families with books. With the goal of preparing students entering Kindergarten for success in the classroom, the Imagination Library program will send a customized book to your child each month from birth until age five. Sign up is easy and FREE! Give your Panther the gift of reading & enroll today.
