Message from Dr. Anderson
We have been working hard to set protocols and practices in place to keep everyone safe when we return. Getting our kids back to school is our top priority.
School will look and feel different than it did before March 13, 2020, but we are focused on giving our students opportunities to learn, socialize, collaborate, laugh, and have fun. We know that every family has experienced this pandemic in different ways, as have our own families; we are sensitive to that as we prepare lessons and set expectations.
I want to thank you for all the grace, generosity, support and patience you have extended to your student's teachers this last year. It can be very challenging to learn new skills and practice your craft in a public forum. Imagine if you had dozens/hundreds of people watching you do your job every day. Cedar Park teachers are the best, and we will continue to work hard, make adjustments, try new things, and support every student in hybrid and CDL. We will always make sure we put students first.
Please spend time reading this document - it has a lot of important information. I also suggest to keep the link handy so you can easily refer to it when you need.
As always, let us know if you have questions or needs.
Be well.
Dr. Anderson
Advisory is Mandatory This Week!
Please make sure your student is attending advisory this week, as teachers will instruct students on all the safety protocols and schedule details they need to know before coming back to school. We are not returning to "business as usual," so everyone needs to know how to be safe and ready for school.

Information about Lunch, Snacks, and All Things Food
FREE LUNCH FOR EVERYONE!
Every student can get a hot lunch at school for free throughout the rest of the school year. They won't even have to enter their school ID to take it. We hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity.
MEAL BAG TAKE HOME
For those students and families who have been picking up meal bags, or who want to access meal bags, they will no longer be distributed at school on Tuesday and Thursday. Students will grab a bag on the way out the door on their attendance day. It will have all the lunch and breakfast items they need for the next days when they are not attending in person. We want everyone to eat and be well, so please take advantage of this program.
LUNCH BAGS/BOXES
We are encouraging you to please use brown bags (you can get them at the Dollar Store), disposable containers, etc. if you are sending your student to school with a lunch. We know it's not Earth friendly, but the more we can minimize items that need to be sanitized or can carry germs, the better. Brown bags, baggies, and other similar items can be thrown away without the need for special handling.
WATER BOTTLES
The drinking fountains have been disconnected, so it's important that students have some sort of refillable water bottle to use, especially as we head into Spring and warm weather. Students can fill bottles in classroom sinks and water bottle filling stations. Please make sure you mark the bottle with your student's name.
SNACKS
Students can have snacks at school, but when and where they can be eaten is up to the Core team of teachers. Snacks will NOT be allowed in our elective classes. Extra cleaning and other precautions need to be taken when allowing students to eat, so grade level teams have developed plans to allow for snacks if needed.
Arrival and Dismissal Information for Parents
Please try to schedule appointments outside of the school day (Wednesdays are great!). If you need to pick your child up early, after you bring your ID to the front door we will call your child from class.
We have featured several maps to outline arrival and dismissal locations below. Please take some time to look at them and review them with your student.
Student Expectations and School Supplies for Hybrid
We will be sharing a lot of information with students over the next two weeks to help them transition to Hybrid instruction. Here is some key information we want you to have.
- Students will remain in the same classroom for all core classes, and move to their elective classes as a cohort.
- Our cell phone policy continues to be off and away at all times during the school day, from the time they enter the building until 3:50 when they exit the building. While students will have one reminder, if they have it out multiple times over the school year, it may be confiscated and kept in the office until a parent can pick it up.
- Students are expected to wear masks in accordance withe the CDC and BSD guidelines at all times. Refusal to wear a mask may result in disciplinary action if not corrected.
- Students will be taught how to stay socially distanced throughout the day.
- Chromebooks should be fully charged and brought to school, along with a charger, every day.
- Water bottle that can be refilled
- Ear buds with microphone
- Have 2 masks each day
- A spiral notebook
- Pens and pencils
- Hand held pencil sharpener
If you need assistance in providing these supplies for your child, please contact your child's counselor.
Hybrid and CDL Schedule
A few notes about the new schedule starting April 19th...
- All students (those coming in person and those who selected CDL) will follow this schedule starting 4/19/2021.
- The first two days (Monday, 3/19 and Tuesday 4/20) will be asynchronous days for students who are at home. This will allow teachers to focus on the "roomies" and orienting them to how school will work in hybrid.
- Make sure you know which two days your student will be at school... and only send them on those two days!
- Your child will receive a blank template in the mail early next week. Their core teachers will help them complete it accurately.
- If your child receives Special Education or English as a Second Language services, they might have a class on their "at home" days from 9:15-9:55. Their Learning Strategies or ELD teacher will help them fill out that part of their schedule.
- AVID scholars will have AVID once a week on Wednesday with a live zoom session.
- Advisory will continue to be a live zoom session on Wednesdays only.
- Students who are in the CDL instructional model will have a synchronous PE experience 4 days a week during their elective period. Students with a PE class should be dress for PE when they come to school. Locker rooms are closed and students will not be able to dress down.
- Student in a hybrid model will have PE in person on the two days they are at school, and asynchronously on the days they are at home (the same as it is currently).
