2016 Plainfield Community Schools Legacy Foundation Major Saver Campaign
Small Card, BIG Results
The Plainfield Community Schools Legacy Foundation is once again offering Major Saver cards for sale through the Plainfield elementary schools. Students will receive the sales packets on Wednesday, November 2nd and can continue to sell the $10 discount cards until Monday, November 14th. Proceeds from the sale of Major Saver cards directly support the participating schools and the activities of the Plainfield Community Schools Legacy Foundation.
The 2016 participating restaurants/establishments include: Sky Zone, U Paint Pottery Studio, Qdoba, Dunkin Donuts, Hardees, Culver’s, Popeye’s, Rally’s, Orange Leaf, Papa John’s, White Castle, Burger King, Gladdaugh Irish Pub, Arby’s, Firehouse Subs, Monster Golf, Panda Express, Dairy Queen and Fazoli’s.
Major Saver cards can be purchased via cash, check or online at www.majorsaver.com. The online sale can be credited back to a particular classroom and school. All cards purchased online will be mailed directly to the customer. Classroom Incentives will be fulfilled by the end of the campaign.
Major Saver stresses safe selling and discourages door to door campaigning. The company encourages students to sell to family members, church patrons, neighbors, or other adults the family may know; and to always make sure their parents are involved.
Major Saver cards can also be purchased, and credited to a student, through the Major Saver App. Once the free app is downloaded to an Android or iOS device, buyers can choose a Major Saver card through the “buy cards” tab on the app. Once the buyer completes the transaction the offers will be stored in the Major Saver App. Patrons can then redeem offers directly from the app and do not need a physical card.
Please consider purchasing one or more Major Saver cards this year to help benefit the Plainfield Community Schools Legacy Foundation and the students within the district.
Thank you for your continued support!

Our PTO Needs YOUR Help!!!
We are looking for a dozen or so parents to help on several committees for this year in a variety of capacities. Please email brentwoodpto2016@gmail.com if you are interested.
Staff Appreciation Committee - arrange items for the event and help set up/ clean up for their events during the year typically 3-4 events during the year.
Carnival Committee (Mar 4th) - this committee will be working together to divide and conquer the list of things that need to happen to make the carnival a success. We will have a separate meeting with this group to get the ball rolling in November. Most of the time is spent prior to carnival and maybe 1-2 hours setting up and cleaning up prior.
National Essay Contest for 5th Grade Students
The Hendricks County Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring the "American History Essay Contest" for students in Grades 5-8.
The American History Essay Contest was established to encourage young people to think creatively about our nation's great history and learn about history in a new light.
This contest is open to students in public, private, and parochial schools, and registered home-study programs. Students in grades five through eight are encouraged to participate. Each year, a selected topic for use during the academic year is announced, and contest instructions are published online and sent to schools by participating DAR chapters. Essays are judged for historical accuracy, adherence to the topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness.
Participating chapters send one winning essay from each of the four grades for judging on the state level. The state will send one winning essay from each of the four grades to be judged on a divisional level. The winning essay from each of the four grades will then be judged on the national level and the winners are announced.
Each student participant receives a certificate of participation from the chapter and the chapter winners receive bronze medals and certificates. State winners receive certificates and silver medals. National winners receive special certificates, medals, and a monetary award.
Breakfast in the Brentwood Cafeteria

If your student wishes to purchase breakfast in the morning they can head straight to the cafeteria and make their food selections (just as they do at lunchtime) and enjoy it before school. Staff members monitor their breakfast time and ensure they make it to their homeroom on time!
School breakfast costs $1.30 per day and you can find our breakfast and lunch menus at http://www.plainfield.k12.in.us/o/brentwood-elementary-school/dining.
