Keeping Students Safe
The end of the day can be a very busy time- getting children to practice, picking up other children at different schools, etc. During such a fast paced time it is easy to look at every minute and get impatient with the idea of waiting in a line. We have all been there and every minute can feel like an eternity when we are waiting.
That being said, the impact of being in a rush and not slowing down to follow rules and laws in place to ensure the safest possible pick up can have a devastating outcome. It is important that if you choose to meet your child in a vehicle off school grounds that you follow the regulations of no parking signs on 159th Terr., please reinforce having your child cross at a crosswalk with the crossing guard, and only park on one side of the street to keep students from crossing the street between cars which causes them to be in a blind spot for other motorists.
We will continue to reflect on our dismissal practices on school grounds to support the safe release of nearly 390 children in the most time efficient manner. However, safety will always be the primary focus. Currently we are dismissing safely in approximately 10 minutes, start to finish, on a typical day. Again, although every minute counts, our precious children's safe arrival home is the biggest celebration each day.
Please continue to follow the on school grounds dismissal expectations:
- Pull all the way forward
- Do not make a left turn into the school during 8-8:40 and 3:15-4:00
- Park in a space if you are needing to get out of the car to assist your child.
