We hope you are enjoying the snow! It is cold and will be really cold tonight and tomorrow, so please stay warm! As of now, we are on for normal school hours tomorrow, Wednesday. Please watch the news and watch for announcements from RCPS just in case school is delayed or closed for tomorrow, Wednesday!

Standards of Learning (SOL) Growth Tests in Grades 3-5 January 24 and 25, 2024
As you may recall the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests have moved to a growth model. You can find more information about these tests at this Virginia Department of Education link:
Students in grades 3,4, and 5 will be taking the January SOL Growth Tests on Wednesday and Thursday, January 24 (Math) and 25 (Reading), 2024.
Cub Connections Parent Meetings
Earlier this year at a PTA meeting Ms. Martz shared how we would like to host 3-4 informational parent meetings a year. We are calling them Cub Connections! When talking with parents the general consensus was that an additional in-person meeting for parents was sometimes difficult because of child care, family schedules, etc., and we completely understand that. Someone suggested an online meeting instead. This would allow parents to still attend and hear the information. So, we are going to try online Cub Connections information parent meetings this first semester, and we will get parent input to decide how to continue in the future.
So, please join us for a Cub Connections-Parent Information Meeting on Thursday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. At our February meeting, we will discuss the topics of school attendance, our parent volunteer program, PAW Patrol, and we will also talk a little about keeping schools safe, too. We will send reminders about the February meeting as we get closer to it, and we will send the link to join the meeting on the day of the meeting. We hope you can join us online!
CRES Six Day Specials Rotation
As you are aware, CRES is on a six day rotation for our specials classes. Each week we will share the upcoming days of the rotation with parents. Here are the rotations for the next two weeks:
- Tuesday, January 16 No School for Students; Teacher Work Day
- Wednesday, January 17 Day 6
- Thursday, January 18 Day 1
- Friday, January 19 Day 2
Your child's teacher will share with you the specific 6 day specials rotation for their class (which day is art, music, PE, library, and technology).
