Dear Parent(s),

I delayed our Panther Post last week due to our emergent situation last Friday. Having said that, I have included below an abbreviated version of our Evacuation Plan for you to be aware of. It is my hope we will not need to initiate the plan but our primary responsibility is the safety of students and staff and the need to be prepared. Please note: If you need to update your son/daughter's emergency contact list please contact our office.

Education last week at Pine Grove was full of great learning activities "sprinkled" with some fun. Thank you to the teachers who organized the week.

In the event that we need to release students due to wildfire evacuations, we will follow the steps below.

PLEASE NOTE:

Parents/Guardians or Emergency contact MUST pick up at the school. ALL students will be secured at the school (bus & town students) for 30mins. Students who are not picked up will be transferred by bus to a designated muster point.

1. Tables will be set up in the front entrance way for parents/emergency contacts to come in and sign out their students. ID MUST be presented.

2. Once parents/guardians have checked in at the tables, they will go outside to wait for their children at the library door exit.

Our PATs' for grade 6 begin next week with the French Immersion students writing on Monday May 15th and the English students Wednesday May 17th.

Congratulations to Miss Alora Lalonde who won the opportunity to be the Principal for the day. Miss Lalonde took her responsibilities very seriously along with eating an "executive" (pizza) lunch with her friends.

During Education Week at Pine Grove, there were quite a few activities to celebrate how "Learning Uplifts All". Students took part in "The Amazing Race" contest, wore hats to support positive mental health, dressed up for Spirit Day, and bought tickets to support Reflections in Edson with the "Candy for a Cause" contest. One of the most fun activities was the Staff vs. Students Dodgeball games at lunch. Students won 2 of the games and the staff won 1.

PGMS students performed their One Act play at the Red Brick on the 27th of April. Their play Dystopia! The Hungry Maze Game of Divergent Death had everyone laughing in stitches.

Three student's got Honourable Mentions during the adjudications - Camryn for amazing choreography and Falon and Wyatt for exceptional duo. Way to go munchkins!

Our grade 7 students had the opportunity to participate in "Jack Talks". Presenters from Edmonton came out and discussed healthy mental wellness.

Teachers took on students at lunch in a dodgeball game. The students won the best of three games 2-1.

For badminton GYAC this Tuesday we took home the junior banner and intermediate. Our players showed great sportsmanship and many places in the top three for their category.

Happy weekend parents and students! We hope you are all safe and well!! Thank you for your understanding as we navigate the hot lunch orders during this ever changing time.

The order form for the two upcoming preordered hot lunches, Panago, May 24 & Taco in a Bag, June 7th are due back on Monday May 15th first thing in the morning. Please just cross off the spaghetti hot lunch as it is void at this time.

Please join us and come have lunch while supporting the kids raising money for their Quebec, Montreal and Ottawa trip. Sports Day cash BBQ happening next week on May 18! A burger, chips and a drink for $5, in the school parking lot, when you come watch your student for Sports Day! Can’t wait to see you there!
