Mrs. Wood has purchased new books for the library that our students are really excited about. The books are appropriate for all of our grade levels and all reading levels. Popular titles include: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Pete the Cat, and the entire Piggy and Elephant series. Mrs. Wood does a great job of ordering new books for our library on a regular basis. In Mr. Poggas's STEM class, 5th graders are getting to design, create, and build with Lego Spike Kits. Students work with the kits to solve problems with their designs and then make improvements to their designs. The Lego Spike Kits are both fun and engaging for our students.

Girls on the Run is a national program designed for 3rd-5th grade girls. The goal of Girls on the Run is to inspire young girls to build confidence and other important life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity. Staff members here at Central have taken a training to give our interested 3rd-5th grade girls the opportunity to be a part of the program. Registration opened Tuesday. The Central Singers met for their first rehearsal this year on Tuesday morning! These 4th and 5th grade kids are so dedicated to singing that they wake up extra early every Tuesday to come in before school at 7 AM to make some great music together. They will have two performances this May: The Festival of Choirs on May 2nd and the Cardinals Baseball Game on May 31st. You won't want to miss it! We hope to see you there!

3rd grade students are learning about multiple forms of precipitation and measures of precipitation. Students made observations about the different forms of precipitation (rain, hail, sleet, and snow). Students then recorded how many squeezes of the pipets it takes for the sponge to be saturated. They wrote their prediction and recorded their findings. Fun and engaging experiments for our students.
