DWS Kids on the Bus

This week we reviewed how to be a DWS when riding the bus (see poster below). We have already spoken to a few students who have needed reminders about keeping hands, arms, and items inside the school bus. As you can imagine this is very dangerous and we take bus safety very seriously. Please review these expectations with your child(ren). Thank you for your partnership!

School Council Nomination

Since the passage of the 1993 Education Reform Act, all schools in Massachusetts must form School Councils, which include representation from parents, teachers, the community, and school administration. The purpose of the School Council is to involve parents and teachers in school decision-making. The School Council will also formulate an annual school improvement plan with the goal to strengthen the bond between our school and the Marshfield community we serve. This plan is then submitted to the Superintendent and School Committee.

We are looking for TWO parents to join our School Council this year! We encourage all parents to consider this opportunity for meaningful dialogue and active participation in our Daniel Webster School community. The meetings are generally held once each month on Tuesdays at 4:00.

Please click here for the nomination letter and paperwork.

Headphones - Grades 1-5 Only

We are asking all families to provide a pair of headphones for students in grades 1-5. These headphones will be kept at school. We ask that families consider purchasing headphones that go over the head, rather than earbuds as they tend to last longer. The school is happy to provide headphones for those in need. Please contact Mrs. MacNeil if you would like to reserve a pair.

DWS Security Updates

A double door entry system with a security window was added to the DWS.

As a security measure, we will not be letting visitors into the building unless you are volunteering. Visitors who have a scheduled meeting will wait in the vestibule and be escorted by the host to the meeting.

All visitors must present a valid ID - no exceptions! We understand that we know many parents/guardians, but we will be requiring ALL visitors to present their ID when they volunteer and/or pick up a student - EVERY TIME. This will be frustrating at first, but we are working hard to maintain the safety of our students.
