Dear Siskiyou School Parents,
Welcome back and happy spring! This sweet poem by Mary Oliver inspired me this morning and so I would like to share it. Let us call forth the sun to shine upon us with warmth and love.
I enjoyed a wonderful spring break with lots of family time, some gardening, reading and knitting and walks with our dog Piere. We live by the Ashland Golf Course, so I can always access the walking paths there and enjoy the views to the mountains, Grizzly Peak and Pilot Rock – and this time of year I watch the trees budding and starting to bloom. What a beautiful place we live in! It’s wonderful for our school to be back in full swing for the last ten weeks of this 2022-2023 school year.
Please take a note of all the upcoming special events in the calendar section below. I would like to highlight a few: Nina’s Morning Coffee this Friday, 4/7 at 8:30am, our Main Lesson Tour next Wednesday morning, 4/12 at 8:30am, and Karen O’Dougherty’s talk on Wednesday evening, 4/7 @ 6:30pm. And last but not least: PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR AUCTION TICKETS AND JOIN US FOR THE SUPER FUN PARTY ON Saturday, April 29th!
Enjoy this week and blessings on our school! From my heart to yours, Aurilia

These tables are in the first or second row next to the stage and come with 2 bottles of quality red wine. At this year's auction, each guest will have a seat at a table, but some tables are small and far from the stage. Buy a premium table for 8 people fo $175 and make sure you get great seats!

Class 5 - Blue Heron Class
It's such a delight to reconnect with the Blue Heron class after a lengthy spring break! We are diving right into our play block. I chose the play "Perseus and Medusa" which is sure to be entertaining in the best ways! Our play block follows a full block on Greek mythology in March. We studied the Greek pantheon, beginning with the foundational creation story, the birth of the Titans and the battles that ensued leading to the glory of Zeus. The stories of the Greek gods bring about reverence in the fifth grader, as well as a sense of being a strong leader. Each of the gods is imbued with unique and distinctive qualities. The children were captivated to hear about each of them and their adventures! These stories became compositions that were written in their main lesson books. One of the beloved epics I shared was the story about Helen of Troy, the Trojan War and the travels of Odysseus. So little time, so many rich stories to share! We are spending all of our time now on our play story. We look forward to sharing it with the community towards the end of April!
